I got the Inspire a few days ago, my first droid phone (and non BB phone in 6 years). My wife has the Droid X, and I really do like the Sense UI - but I wish some of the widgets were more configurable.

There are some things I miss about blackberry, and I have to imagine that there's ways to do this on inspire/droid but I haven't figured out yet:

  1. Message light - I have all the notifications turned on, but it doesn't blink when I get a new google talk, gmail, text or email. It may blink once, but that's it. I know there has to be a setting i'm missing.
  2. I hate the phone interface. I am frequently on conf. calls, and using my headset i put the phone in my pocket quick a bit. I'm used to hitting an external button to mute/unmute - no such thing on the inspire. Is there a way to make the power button up top mute/unmute? That would rock - because otherwise I have to take the phone out of my pocket, hit power, swipe to unlock, then hit the unmute button. 4 steps instead of 1 :(
  3. Also on the phone, the freaking End Call button is right where the heel of my hand is when i slide the phone in my pocket. Everytime I forgot to hit the power button first i hung up the call this way.
  4. Is there a way to get all your notifications to show up in 1 'app'. ie - corporate email, text, phone calls, gmail, google talk? BB had that and I loved it - each interaction had a different icon but I could see how many 'things' i missed at a quick glance rather than going and clicking on each different app.
  5. Custom ringtones/notifications/calendar reminders - how can i get my custom .mp3's i created in the phone to use as these? I put them in a ringtones folder and can see them only for ringtones (not notifications/reminders/alarms). I'm guessing I need a notifications folder and/or reminder folders, but that didnt' seem to work.
Overall - I really like this phone (aside from the bent bottom door). I'm struggling a little w/the UI (especially the phone part) but it's great having such a cool phone. Battery life has been ok - i get a solid 6hrs before I have to recharge (usually on calls the phone the whole time). My BB storm would last 4 at most.

Try: Settings>Display>Notification Flash

Make sure all the check boxes are marked.

Don't know if it is exactly what you are aiming for but you can put your finger on the notification bar (where it shows the time, battery indicator, bars, etc.) at the top of the screen and swipe your finger down, which should bring down your notification screen. Then all your notifications should be on one screen - email, missed calls, etc.

Man thanks! It's not quite the same as BB, but that's exactly what I was looking for!

In the mail settings you can click "all accounts" and it will show all the accounts you have mail set up for in a single list.

Welcome to the fourms. We have a subforum for tips and tricks...you might have better results there as well. :)

Thanks, this helps out huge too! I did it w/the HTC widgets.

ps - I just saw there was a help/support sub forum, I'd move this there if I could.

It's this what FriendStream is for? It's an HTC widget/app. It's built into the phone for this very reason.
