I just got my phone yesterday and used it for a little while and then plugged it in to fully charge the battery. It stayed on the charger with little to no use until it was fully charged. I set an alarm for this morning, and when it went off I noticed that the battery on my phone was dead. I am new to android phones, so I don't know if I need to change a lot of settings but I really wouldn't expect the battery to be down to 10% with no use over 7 hours.

Could use some suggestions on settings or if I have a junk battery...

SAME HERE!

(except for one thing - just keep note of this in the future: you actually SHOULDN'T charge the battery to 100% right away like you used to; you should first use the phone and drain the battery, and THEN charge her up to 100%. You can lose capacity by charging first - not a huge deal, but make sure your next charge cycle, you drain it before a full charge)

I think it's a software bug though? I woke up and it had a message saying my battery was super low, and I was like wtf, and I plugged it in to charge... when I checked on it fifteen minutes later it said 70%, so I think it was a hiccup on the software side, although I have no idea what caused it.

Bookmarked! Thanks, I thought I knew everything about li-ion batteries, but no, wow that was really in depth! :)

However,

that still doesn't explain why my nearly full atrix (not 100%, but definitely in the 90% range) said like "10%" or "20%" this morning, and then shot up to 70% after a little bit of charging... I'm pretty confident that the battery is a-okay, so I'm thinking there is a software issue.

What settings did you change?

Isn't that annoying when people don't give an answer: "Oh I solved my problem! w00t!"... Useless post for the rest of us.

My issue is different from you guys. You guys it sounds like the phone is displaying incorrect percentage. For me, in SIX HOURS, my phone went from 70% to completely dead/off. I overslept for class and missed an important quiz because of this shit.

REALLY?! 70% to fully offline-dead-my phone can't do shit in 6 hours. This is bullshit.

I am new to android but for anyone else like me i was experiencing terrible batt life after uninstalling apps, deleting widgets and ending processes... the one thing i found out is the process may have ended but the "service" has not.

1. Settings
2.Running services
3. End services like the social networking widgets, Weather widgets and other ones that use battery draining.

Do this even if you ended the widget process or application... You must end the "service".

Also for chargeing

1. Settings
2. Development
3. Uncheck "stay awake"

After youre battery drains, when the next power cycle starts do this and see if your life improves ;D

Hope this helps somone

my first atrix did that..charge it full and took it off charger and it went into standby mode with blank screen while i slept..i woke up in morning and the battery was almost dead...that was one of many problems i ahd with atrix so i exchanged it..the battery on the 2nd one was much better ..like night and day..so i figured there was something wrong with os/software or whatever...but my other problems were still there so i took it back.
