The real deal behind the Thunderbolt Release Date: In My Opinion

I believe that the phone was supposed to be released on February 14th for Best Buy. The reason I say this is because of the date on the clock and weather widget of the dummy phones. Now I know this is not enough proof but look at the other things that surround this date. One of the biggest is the preorder dates. I do not feel that a company such as Best Buy would have just blindly set a date without knowing or having a good mind that the phone would be out soon. [Feb 14th]

So we all know that VZW knew that they were going to get the iPhone 4 and that BB had the rights to sell the phone first. This is they made preparations to make sure that the iPhone 4 sell and that the sells stay up with min return rates. They changed the return policy window from 30 to 14 days and even upped the restocking fee for the iPhone 4 which is $70 compared to any other phone which is $35. This could be because they know the [iPhone 4g, iPhone 5, iPhone 4S] will be released and they want to show apple they are able to sell it when it comes out. They want to make sure you are stuck with this phone because the thunderbolt was going to be released soon to BB and they had a feeling a lot of people would return it for the 1st 4G phone.

That purpose of the thread wasnt to "mislead" anyone, I was just speaking logically about the situation and point out a few facts. But I guess I can see how it could be misleading to some. My apologies for that.

An announcement tomorrow would make perfect sense or friday after they sell the Xoom for a day. The ads however were probably agreed upon before this most recent delay and they could not back out on the agreement to run them (for a 24th launch) and now they are airing even though the phone may be days/weeks away. Either way the advertising is costing them a fortune and making people angry over the launch may cost them as well.

Your right about the advertisements and ads. More of a reason why I think they are really just holding back for the iPhone window to close and then releasing the phone asap. But if they dont release soon they will really loose alot of money when it comes to the Bionic releasing so soon the the thunberbolt and iPhone. getting in bed with Apple may just hurt VZW because of the way the handling the release. I dont expect to seen any more powerful HTC phones for VZW anytime soon. Cant blame HTC for making TMoible their main carrier and giving the EVO to Sprint. lol

Everyone says it is all because of the iphone. Maybe it has a little to do but there are issues with this phone whether you want to believe it or not. If this wasnt the case there would be some solid info out there. Being the first verizon LTE phone is causing some problems and they dont want to release the phone and have a ton of issues and then people complain more than they already do. Hopefully by july when I'm due for an upgrade they have this all worked out with their other phones.

I think they are doing it so that by the time it is actually released nobody buys it and buys something else. maybe they are doing this because of the incredible shortage HTC put on verizon.

Yeah, Verizon will put an embargo on HTC due to the fact that SAMSUNG didn't supply the screens for the Incredible to HTC. That makes a whole lot of sense...

Hey when you make a product and release it you should have enough stock to continue to make them depending on the amount needed. They should have saw the shortage that may occur and had a plan b not make people wait months to get the phone. That hurt verizon by some who wanted the phone and not being able to upgrade could jump ship. So you can roll your eyes but when you as a company produce something you should be able to continue to meet demand. smh

Did you see the wirefly video? Seemed okay to me to say it was a pre production model. Never said there detente any issues. See section in Skype.... I said that the iPhone had something to do with it as well.... did you go n puck up an iPhone? Lol

Please read your title- How it is NOT misleading? You state as fact when you are merely stating conjecture. A "?" at the end would suffice to correct it

VZW never stated a date, so nothing is late. The manifestations of reality in this forum and others are sometimes fun to read

Where did you see that?!? There has never been a scheduled release date, the only official date anyone has had was Q1 2011. The first date that was ever "leaked" was Feb. 14th, there was never a Feb. 10th date linked to this phone. I think you have it mixed up with the iPhone.

I know that really struck me as odd as well. If it wasn't gonna release by the 28th there would be no need to remove all that from the sites.... hmmm. Lol I'm hoping for either tomorrowor the 28th at VZW like my friend that works there said. He's gonna keep me in the loop with what's going on.
