I have absolutely had it with my droid through verizon. I am sure it is just because I don't understand something, but this is flat ridiculous to try to download new apps. I have a couple apps that I have on my PC that I want to put on my droid. download python, download this download that, move this here change that......give me a break........it shouldn't be this frickin complicated. I am almost sorry that I got this phone, which really sucks because I was really excited about it.

It shouldnt' be that difficult. What app are you tryign to download?

Most of the time, you use the market app on the phone, search for it,a nd downlaod it there and then, which just installs it and gets it running.

I can do the ones thru market its the apps that I got as a package deal that I have to install from my pc to the droid. they want me to download a platform for python then add something else then I am supposedly able to start putting the apps on the droid........if it was only this easy.

well, can you tell us what the app is, and link us to the instructions? or email them and ask for support?

Welcome to the Android SDK!

The Android SDK archive now only contains the tools. It no longer comes
populated with a specific Android platform or Google add-on. Instead you
use the SDK Manager to install or update SDK components such as platforms,
tools, add-ons, and documentation.

In order to start developing applications, you must install at least one
version of the Android platform using the SDK Manager.

This requires an Internet connection, so if you plan to use the SDK
offline, please make sure to download the necessary components while online.

To start the SDK Manager, please execute the program "SDK Setup.exe".

From the command-line you can also directly trigger an update by
executing:
tools\android.bat update sdk

For more information, please consult the Android web site at
Android Developers

you're attemptign to install the SDK? it's a programming environment!

If you can't install the SDK, you probably shouldn't be using it...

No, I'm attempting to install the sdk manager, which is what it says to do to install or update SDK components such as platforms, tools, add-ons, and documentation.....I'[m not stupid and trying to program the phone

Do you understand the SDK is for your PC, not for your phone?

It has nothing to do with downloading apps for the phone. To blame Droid or Verizon is flat out ridiculous, as much as I hate Verizon.

yes, I get that. I downloaded an app package online for the droid. To install the apps I have to first(1st) download the sdk manager to my pc so that I may use the pc to transfer the data(apps) to the droid.
