D1 as wifi only...question

Hey, I'm buying a co-workers D1 since they've moved on to a new phone. I'm gonna run it just as a wifi device.

Do I need to set it up with a new gmail? Or can I use my current gmail even though it's set up with my DX?

I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but you should be able to use your same gmail just like you can with a tablet AFAIK. Your apps should sync with both devices.
