TB Pushed back yet again

How was the device pushed back when never given a date in the first place? Some folks create reality based on people stating "confirmed" info from BB and VZW folks when I can not find one person that knows a date and I am material manager for a very large company with a huge VZW contract. Our rep knows NOTHING about a date. ZIP- and has been correct every time- including the infamous and VERY FAKE Incredible 2 "launch" end of last year.

Manifestation- It's what's for dinner :)

Hi Guys,

New to the forums, but I've been following the Thunderbolt forums for a couple weeks now and wanted to chime in.

Tonight I called both a Best Buy Store and a Verizon Store. Here's what they said:

Best Buy: The phone was due the 28th but has been pushed back, and they haven't specified when.

Verizon Store: A Definite February 28th.

These 2 stores were both in Boston, MA. Will update if I hear anything else!

Welcome to the forum!

Which stores in Boston did you call on? I'm in the same area.

Thanks! :)

I called the Best Buy on Newbury Street, and the Verizon on Boylston. Both big stores with conflicting info.

I actually went into the Newbury St. store earlier tonight. Basically told me it keeps getting pushed back, they have no TBs and not sure on when they are getting them/when it will be released.

I also checked the Verizon store in Everett on Rt. 16, lady didn't know when it was going to be released but she said it seemed like any day now.

I doubt a release tomorrow since they are releasing the Xoom, just my $0.02 though.

The Thunderbolt must have really run into some big problems. It must be a pretty buggy phone - to go through all of these delays. Without announcing a specific date, Verizon sure appears to have set the stage for a release a few weeks ago. And now the rumor mill generates target date after target date. It gives the impression that Verizon is trying to buy itself time while their engineers furiously try to make this new phone work. I applaud the effort but it makes me wonder if this phone isn't just going to be a headache, even after it's released. Like I said, it must have some pretty big problems to have to be repeatedly delayed.

If Verizon isn't delaying - because they never announced a release date - then they should just announce a release date and be done with it. The impression out there is that Verizon is having trouble fixing whatever is broken on this phone.

I'm not convinced that you should be using the word "must". There are quite a few scenarios that could be causing a later than sooner release date.

1) They want to make sure their LTE network will accept the increased usage.
2) There are some issues with the applications that come with the phone (Skype).
3) Don't want to conflict with iPhone sales.

Keep in mind that Verizon NEVER announced a release date. They said it would release in Q1 of this year and we are well within that time frame. I don't see a reason to say the phone is buggy. The phone looks fine to me in the wirefly hands-on.

Perhaps "must" is too strong a word - but just about everything I read about the Thunderbolt - including release dates - comes from someone's imagination. What all of this - failure to announce a release date when everything seems primed and ready for release - prompts my imagination to think of is a buggy phone or a buggy network. It could be something like iphone sales but I'm having trouble imagining such a stupid reason to make so many people so frustrated. But perhaps that's just how the marketing game goes. Frustration = news coverage and word of mouth = increased sales.

Just seems pretty cold to me - and makes me think that Verizon is just afraid to release the phone due to un-named problems. And that, in turn, reduces my confidence in the phone and Verizon as a company.
