Root Applying voodoo kernel

Hey guys, I have a few questions. I've been posting some debatably off-topic questions in some random threads, and I greatly appreciate the help the community has been providing, particularly Nitsuj. Thank you so much guys.

Ok, so I just put my phone back to complete stock, then ended up going to eb01. I'm using Superclean 2.4 and over that I applied Nitsuj's Nextang theme. I'm have red CWM, which I pushed thru Odin using the file "cwm-recovery-ALL.tar".

So now I'm looking to go to Voodoo. Questions are:

-I had downloaded and installed Superclean 2.4, but didn't choose the Superclean 2.4 Voodoo download. Is there any difference, other than a Voodoo kernel is packaged with the SC Voodoo download? At this point, should I simply download the eb01 Voodoo kernel and flash it through CWM? Would there any incompatibility between my SC ROM and theme? They are both for eb01.

-I know a lot of stuff can be borked by Voodoo, but I get the impression it's easier to deal with now with the red CWM? What do I need to look out for as far as potential problems I may encounter? Can I install any eb01 ROM or theme, or they must be FOR voodoo? What's up with enabling and disabling lagfix, at what point must I address this?

-Once a voodoo kernel is installed, are there any issues restoring to a previous nandroid backup that didn't include voodoo?

you can install any rom or theme with voodoo, provided the rom doesnt include a nonvoodoo kernel in it...but i think the latest roms provide the kernel seperately

yup...id recommending wiping cache before rebooting though

Yes. You can flash SC 2.4 w/ Voodoo directly overtop of SC2.4 nonvoodoo. That will give you the voodoo kernel with the Superclean Rom.

After flashing voodoo kernel, be prepared, upon reboot, to hear the robotic lady's voice talking. That is telling you that Voodoo is being installed.

After that, if you want to go back to a nonvoodoo kernel, that's when you would have to "disable lag fix," which is simple to do through CWM.

I think Nitsuj confirmed what I'm about to say, but now you've got me second guessing... I can just flash the Voodoo kernel by itself over non-Voodoo Superclean 2.4, correct? I don't have to flash the entire Superclean with Voodoo ROM, do I?

I was hoping to just have to flash the kernel by itself, as opposed to both the SC Rom and then the theme again. Last time I flashed SC 2.4, it made my CWR go from red back to blue and I had to reinstall from Odin.

you can just flash the kernel...all superclean does/did (kernel wise) was package the kernel in the update script

I downloaded the voodoo kernel, flashed it in clockwork. Cleared the cache and rebooted. Saw some of the weird blue text flash on the screen. Boot up took only about one minute. Tried Quadrant, got a score in the 900s, same as before Voodoo. Went into clockwork, repeated the process but didn't clear cache after rebooting. Just got a score of 1030. My score on regular eb01 was was around 930 I think.

Never heard the woman's voice...

What am I doing wrong?

check on your sdcard for a voodoo folder...inside of it if theres a disable-lagfix file...delete it and reboot

Is there any way to tell whether a theme or ROM contains a kernel? When browsing around, I'm not sure that's been readily evident when you look to download something

A theme doesn't have kernels. A theme is just basically a paint job. As for roms most of them say if they have voodoo

Ok, so everything worked great, now have Voodoo installed. Definitely noticed the difference in speed. My battery seems to be going way quicker though, is that symptomatic of this current kernel?

Now that I've deleted the lagfix off my sd card, when will I have to deal with enabling/disabling it again in the future? Can someone point me to some kind of sticky about Voodoo?

Worst case scenario, if I wanted to go back and flash DI01 stock, will that be complicated now because of going to Voodoo?

If you deleted lagfix folder after installing voodoo then you will lose voodoo. As for di01 this can be pushed to fix pretty much everything voodoo or not

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear... I didn't delete a lagfix folder, I deleted the disable-lagfix file inside the Voodoo folder.

What was the purpose of that file? When would you want to turn lagfix off, and how would I do that now?

Go into clockwork, go down to voodoo, click on it, click disable lagfix, then reboot listen and wait

So, despite the fact that I deleted the disable-lagfix file that I found in my Voodoo folder, if I do choose to disable in the future, I can just do this process through CWM? It will create a new file?
