When I install LauncherPro and press the home button, I don't get prompted to make it my default, it just is. So when I go into HomeSwitcher it says my default app is "not determined yet". Is any one else having this issue? I would like to be able to change up my launcher as needed, but it seems with LauncherPro installed I have no way to set up MotoBlur as my default launcher. Even if I launch MotoBlur through home switcher, if I press the home button it launches LauncherPro again.

I get this too, but my question to you is why would you want to switch away from LauncherPro anyway? If you install a new home switcher, change the permissions for LP in its applications setting to default.

I installed Launcher Pro immediately and it works wonderfully. I agree with csreborn: it is amazing that one guy can completely outrun the entire Moto development team. Once you install LP, you will never want to go back to Blur. As far as I ca tell, the Blur widgets all work with LP, so why would you ever go back?

For new users of Launcher pro. Here are a few tips.

1. You can change the number of rows and columns on your home screens to add more icons. I just add one extra row as any more can affect the icon label visibility. Also if you do this it kind of messes up home screen in landscape mode--so I just turn landscape off.

2. If you hold down an icon on the dock, there is a pop-up that allows you to select and option to launch something else when you swipe up on the icon. For example. I have my phone icon set to go to contacts when I swipe up on it. I have my browser icon set to launch my rss reader when I swipe up on it. I have a direct dial link in the dock that dials a friend's home number. When i swipe up on it, it dials their cell number.

3. You can set the dock to have as many as 15 icons in settings.

4. You can set animations for flipping from one homescreen to the next--I like the cube animation.

5. Setting keep and memor and build caches as needed may eliminate any screen redraw when pressing the home button.

me too. i just wanted to try it out. but it stole default and neither home switcher for froyo help instructions, nor ClearDefaultHome work to allow you to reestablish blur as default. But blur was all dialed in, and Launcher Pro only saved 3 icon locations so it'll require a bunch of setup.

Anyone know how to get blur back as default home button action on atrix? Or should I just suck it up and setup LauncherPro. But I do kinda think the bootom row of buttons in launcher pro are redundant and therefore sort of inelegant...

thanks

Can anyone recommend a way to learn how to do things with Launcher Pro? Like a youtube video or instructions somewhere? I've got an Inspire and I'm having trouble figuring out how to use LP. I want the Sense clock on my home page, but I can't even find ANY clocks.

Go to the Android Market and search 'Clock Widget'. There some free ones to download. I just did that search and notice the Sense Clock in there as well.

After your new widgets app(s) are installed, goto the screen you want to put your new widget the tap and hold a blank area of the Launcher Pro screen. Select 'Widgets' then select the widget that you would like to add.

Hope this helps.

Other than resizing widgets, what features do you get from upgrading to Launcher Pro Plus?

Resizing is not a small thing in itself, it allows some awesome custom UIs with Quick Desk (check out the SGS homescreens thread at XDA developers).

In addition though you get the extra widgets, and the Friends widget alone is worth the price of admission for me.

You can just uninstall LauncherPro and MotoBlur will be the default again. I really would like the ability to select different launchers depending on my mood including MotoBlur though.

Everything seems to be working fine for me using Launcher Pro. This Launcher opens up a whole new world of possibilities when it comes to personalizing your phone. After using an iphone for some time, it almost feels overwhelming. I love the control I have over my device though.

I feel the same way. My mind is racing - FREEDOM!

It's taken me a couple days, but I finally figured out WHY I didn't like Launcher Pro when I first tried it but really like it now. This being my first Android device, I had no clue how things worked. I liked the Blur stuff, in that I had date/time/weather widgets and a facebook status widget. I also sorta knew where everything was after playing with Blur for a little bit. Then I installed LP and all that went away..AAAAGH!

NOW I know that all those things can easily be selected individually with new and exciting (and oh so numerous) variations!

LP defaulted to 3 homescreens which I didn't like at first, but then found out how to actually adjust the preferences. The 7 screens of Blur felt like too much (for now), as I only had a few icons here and there and found myself always scrolling around looking for stuff. In any case, I've dropped to using the 5 screens and 2 docks, and still trying to adjust things to my liking (finding chiknlil's time/date widget top-most priority)

Might end up purchasing the paid version of LP, as so far, google calendar doesn't have the options I want (specifically, a damn alarm!).
