Walked into VZW Corp. Store this morning and got my Xoom, I was the second one in there. Had a few big wigs there lol, I ended up going with the unsubsidized version with month to month data. They waived my activation fee without asking. For month to month data its 20 bucks for a 1gb, but if you dont sign up for it when you buy it and try to activate it later its $35, the rep also told me that there is fees for turning data on and off.

I haven't really played with it much yet, but first impression is that the hardware is solid and the OS is snappy and very fast. I will report back when i've done some more tinkering.

***So as far as apps go it automatically installs are your apps. The market also has a section or tablets. But it doesn't have all the apps, for example it shows regular Fruit Ninja but under other titles by HalfBrick it shows the Tegra version, which was not listed on the tablet apps section. So far so good!

What if you just want a wifi-only tablet, no 3G or monthly data plan needed--does the Xoom have this option in hardware, or do you have to buy a 3G-capable tablet and simply not subscribe to a data plan?

If you had looked around the forum there are multiple posts that answer this question.

The wifi only tablet will be out in a month or two. Only the 3g is available as of this moment.

OR

You can buy the tablet at $800 and just use it as a Wifi only tablet. The Wifi only tablet will be $599.99 (not 100% confirmed because they did say AROUND 600)

Just got home setting it up now. Big vz store I went to only got a few of them and only 2 weren't spoken for. They had no docks and only 1 folio, said they wouldn't get acessories for a few more days. Build quality and screen are excellent. Had to turn off the auto brightness though it was way to dark, crank the brightness and it is gorgous. Posted from my xoom btw!

Managing to post it after 30 minutes of frustration is different from quickly and seemlessly typing it =P hahaha

Haha that's how it is.. im driving right now so im on my droidx but my Verizon had a few accessories so I picked up a portfolio and a keyboard. I haven't opened either yet cause I have been busy. Browser has had a little trouble scrolling on large pages but expect that'll be fixed, even then its not that bad. Verizon guy said an update for the tablet is coming soon to update it so theres some type of icon or indicator on the taskbar or somewhere letting you know bluetooth keyboard is coonecting. Maybe it'll also add some other stuff!

How's the typing?

Actually it kinda depends. When I made the first post it was a pretty good lag between the keyboard and the web page. Now if you are typing in gmail or mail etc.. it is lightning quick typing. Honestly the typing lag just seems to show up on forums. The keyboard is super quick but it takes a half second or so to show on web pages. So no lag super quick keyboard but on this page the keyboard is always quick just the txt showing is a little behind and you don't see that in any app.

Somebody report how much device app storage the Xoom has. Also, is the internal mapped as the microsd card or just media?

32gb is probably allocated for part app storage and most for media.

Actually the way it is reporting it, think more of a hard drive. It says you have xgig available and then tells you the space you are using and that space being used x meg is apps and x is media. It very much looks like a normal windows type drive it just tells you the space you are using is what type, it doesn't say you have y available for apps and x available for media. So in other words all space is available for whatever you want, type doesn't seem to matter

This is different from previous Android versions. Honeycomb dynamic now, like iOS?

Normal would be a few gigs or less allocated to device storage and the balance of the 32gb would be media space.

I bought one first thing this morning from a Verizon store. I showed up a few minutes before they opened and was the only one there. I have work to do today and have only had a few minutes to play for it, but so far am loving it. Honeycomb is a major step in the right direction. I had being toying with the idea of getting an Ipad for a while and am very glad that I waited.
