Root Changing the Clunky Red Multiple Notification Number Icon in Apex 1.4.0

Here it is in green (I think I like blue better :D):

I noticed that the file name changes when uploaded to photobucket; it removes the "." in front of the 9.png, I wonder why it does that. I guess you saw that and added the "." before applying through NinjaMorph, right? I'm not sure if the stretchability is affected in any way......you will have to remove the "-1" after the "9" since it was added by photobucket because I already have a file on there with the same name (the red png :D)

The file name should be as follows: "ic_notification_overlay.9.png" (you will only see the ".png" if you've unhidden file extensions in your PC's settings).

I hope the stretchability isn't messed up because of this.......

Anyway, here it is:
ic_notification_overlay9-1.png

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone on this thread. I'm just getting my feet wet with all this stuff - Apex 1.4 is my first ROM, and that notification icon was driving me crazy. I just used ninjamorph for the first time to change that to the green dot that bouchigo posted, and it looks so much better! The green is a little off from the other icons on my notification bar, but I'm not complaining! Rather, I'll use this as an opportunity to figure out how to edit these png's.

Thanks again everyone!

Careful when editing .9.png files, they are not like regular png files; .9.png files are able to stretch. Once you edit .9.png files they lose that ability and you have to add that ability again. Use the guide faber made "theme tutorial", or look for any post by "faber78" and the link is in his signature.

I did see that thread. That's going to be more of a weekend project when I can take some time to read up and try things out. Thanks again!

bouchigo thanks for the Zip! Works great.

Fab should think about adding this to the Apex toolbox, nice mod.

Nice, glad it's working out for you guys; I might change the overlay dot blue instead of red for me. I think it would look better in blue, but that's just me :D

Looks like it didn't stick...I just turned on the phone and I'm back to the big red one.

This one? :thinking: ------>

I flashed it and had the small red overlay (which was great) but now its back to the big one. I'll try flashing it again...

I meant it has a red overlay, not green (or blue for that matter)....I need to pay more attention....lol

Did you apply this zip and then make another change in the toolbox that required modifying the framework, like changing a battery icon???

Yep, good call. I changed the battery icon to circular w/ numbers. I guess that is what did it? And I'm also guessing that if I used Ninjamorph I'd be OK?

Dude, anyway to back this out? I thought is was just the red bubble with the number of downloads!!!! changed my whole not. bar..>??!!!!

I stated in the very beginning that this is stock ApeX except for the red overlay for the notification.

Restore your backup or make all the changes you had previously made before you applied this zip.
