It will if you use one of the docks apparently it can but they explicitly said no usb charging. Where a dock can do it I suspect a special cable could be made to mimic it.

This is wrong. Some review mentioned it but it is misinformation. The charger they're looking at has a USB connector but it also has two pins that touch contacts on the underside for charging.

USB is not even connected to the battery internally on the PCB. Even trying to force 7.4V in there wouldn't work (and really isn't a good idea anyway).
But if you really felt motivated, you could remove the T5 screws, slide off the back plate, pop off the battery cover, remove the battery clips, attach a 7.4V power supply, and give yourself a pat on the back

My complain is Having no USB charging, and the USB connected to the computer os not a mass storage class device. There is no drive letter assigned. Thus i can use my regular sync program. Motorola just made lots of stupid design decisons.
I find it odd that my Nook Color has a special USB cord with 2 extra prongs on one side that allow it to charge. My normal Micro-USB cords don't do anything as the packaging stated. Seems like that sort of technology could have been added to the Xoom as a sort of backup. Even if it wasn't AS fast as the standard charger.
