HTC Inspire Battery Experiences...

Ok first day used it to less than 5% then charged it to 100% while on. Then drained it to less than 10% and shut it off and chafed overnight. In the am I turned it on and left it on the charger while on for an additional hour and a half.

Since then I let it go to 20% shut it of at night and charge till am. I awaken turn it on and leave on the charger till I leave ( about an hour and a half )

I do not let it get under 20% anymore and I am usually no where near at the end of the night

So I always shut the phone off at night and turn it on while on charge now for an hour and a half.

I don't get less than 15 hours my battery life rocks
You say that you turn off your phone every night and let it charge? Do you have to do that every night to condition the battery? I actually use my phone as an alarm clock, so turning off the phone every night would convince me not to get the phone...

that's what I do too, I use my phone as my alarm, but I think you only have to do it a couple days every couple months...

hmm, I understand where that could make sense...it's already optimized out of the box...

I'll try an experiment: Tonight, I'll turn my phone off while I charge it. Do normal stuff tomorrow and log time and percentage. Saturday, I'll turn everything back to stock settings and do the same (though I may wait till Monday since I use my phone heavier on non-school days, got to keep the variables down!)

Sounds good. When I tried it I got better results with the settings normal than reduced

Andrea...you said that you turn your phone off every time you charge it? Did I read that incorrectly? Or do you really have to do that in order to get good battery life? Like stated before I use my phone as an alarm clock, so it would be nice if I didn't have to turn off the phone every time I want to charge it, which is when I go to bed.

For you you could just slide it into airplane mode as the alarm will work. ;)

I really haven't read all the threads because there are so many but I am new to the forum and to an android operating system. However, I spent the last week and a half trying to figure our why my Inspire was only lasting 8-10 hours top with hardly no use. SO i read all the forums and did what everyone said. Nothing worked and I just got really aggravated. (Quick side note. IDC what everyone says, a lithium battery has no memory, therefore conditioning does nothing to it. However some have there believes and I am ok with that. :) I don't believe conditioning the battery works but I am running it down each night to )% for the first few days.) Anyways back to the point. I had it and went back to the ATT store and told them what was going on. They marked my phone as DOA. I got a completely new phone and a new battery. Today was my first day of use on this new battery and phone and it is a world of difference. I am going on 17 hours right now and still have 30% battery left and I used it lightly to moderately all day long. So to make along story short, if you are having problems with your battery take it back and demand a new one. Some people ARE getting bad batteries. Luckily, I got a new phone and Couldn't be happier. Now instead of switching to the atrix I am going to stay with the inspire.

My .02
I've tried to kill my battery during a days use, and so far I've been unsuccessful - I've left wifi and bluetooth on all day, answered emails, text messages, played the Asphalt 5 game for hours off an on, listened to downloaded music as well as opening as many programs as possible I even turned up the brightness and after the initial battery drop it seems to settle in but never shut down. I've been as low as 20%, but never killed it in the 12+ hours a day my phone is on.

Same here. When I had to get it below 10% the first day it took forever

I must have a mess up one or something is wrong. Maybe a hidden option that I forgot to change, but here's how my day has gone:

woke up and took it off the charger at about 9:30. I had turned it off so it could charge like that, hoping that would help. No email, checked FB once, Engadget once, was on WiFI more than half the time (I drove to the airport to pick up my parents and have lunch so maybe 2 hours off wifi, but I never browsed or anything excpet maybe 10 texts.)

Battery is at 80% according to the widget, 2 chunks down on the bar under Battery.

49% Screen
16% Cell standby
14% phone idle
8% wifi

everything else is below 5%

80% after how many hours

So 20% in 4 hours that makes 20 hour of light usage so how is that a bad battery. Probably 12-15 with moderate and 9-10 with heavy

yeah, I mean, you're right. Maybe I'm just super paranoid about it and stuff. I'm thinking that the percentage widget is causing me to freak out and panic so I'll probably delete that lol.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this phone. I guess I have high expectations and I know most smart phone battery's suck and usage is very objective. I'd say I'm a moderate user, I guess I'll just have to get used to maybe charging when I get to my dorm and stuff ;)
