Root After Clockwork recovery, problems

Hello all,

I recently became aware of 2.3 and of course wanted it. I took the advice of a friend who recommended clockwork and titanium backup, both of which I downloaded an installed.

Previously, I was running a Sapphire rom, the build escapes me. Anyhow, after downloading the zip and following the instructions Here My phone will only display the Motorola logo, reboot, then repeat this process.

I can get back into clock recovery via removing the battery, reinserting it, holding the 'X' key and powering the device on, but no amount of tinkering seems to allow my phone to boot into the OS.

Clockwork version 2.5.0.1

Any help you can offer me would be greatly appreciated. I consider myself a technical person, so imagine my frustration when follow the directions to a T produced my situation.

Try a different ROM. Sounds to me like your Droid doesn't like the kernel that your ROM of choice comes with.

Thanks for the reply. I had about a 35 minute car ride home where it continued to reboot and eventually (I thought) the battery died. However, I'm home and it's plugged in, and I can't even get the device to power on. It's connected via USB and the light near the mini-usb hub is lit up - despite that, it will not turn on at all.

That USB jack is not going to sufficiently power the Droid from dead. You want to plug it into a WALL, and charge it for several hours. I wouldn't try flashing anything on less than 80% power because you could really get in a bind if it dies mid-flash.

At the time of the original flash it was fully charged, but now yes, it's plugged into the wall. I went back over the steps of wiping the data, boot, system davik cache and then installed the ROM again.

Once again it says the install was successful, I choose to reboot. The phone then turns off. If I turn it on again, it is at the moto logo screen again. I've read a few cases that suggest it can take 10 minutes or more to boot into the first time... not sure I buy it but It's worth a try while it's plugged into the wall.

So baring this failure, I know that in recovery mode and plugged into my computer, I can once again transfer files to the sd. What should I be looking to transfer - my gut tells me the Rom that was working prior. Open to any/all advice.

It's more the kernel than the rom.

You should restore to your last working backup, then if you wish to try the PE rom again, make sure you have a different kernel in place to flash while in recovery and before you boot your phone. I suggest one of P3Droid's Standard Voltage Froyo, or better maybe prime's, as obviously, your phone doesn't like the kernel that actingcrazy ships with his rom.

Then once you get it installed and booted up, go to actingcrazy's forum and tell him to change the kernel that he ships with his rom, lol.
