Help Tbolt Capabilities/Features/OS

Since we have no clue as to when it will be released I figured it would be constructive to talk about what it can do and the OS. This will be my first smartphone so I am especially excited. My first question has to do with this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qzx_xrRLobw&feature=player_embedded#at=18

When I get my Tbolt I wanna run that Matrix animated background. Do you need a special program for that or can you just download and apply it. I thought it looked badass. Also what are some other cool tips/tricks this phone or OS can handle?

Since Android phones and smart phones in general are new to me, can you help me understand the whole "bootloader" thing. I googled it and all I can come up with is its the program that kickstarts the operating system essentially. Why is it good if the Tbolt's bootloader is not locked? What can you do with different bootloaders? Also I heard most android apps are free, unlike the iphone apps. Is this true?

If the bootloader is unlocked, you can install custom ROMs. Think of it this way: it's like having the ability to install a new OS. This allows you to update your phone to the latest Android OS without having to wait for the official update from your carrier. It also allows any custom tweaks developers might want to add. This is very handy if your carrier has decided to stop supporting your phone and you're missing out on new OS revisions.

I'm not sure about "most apps are free", but there does seem to be a greater percentage of free apps in Android Marketplace than there are free apps in iTunes. I think the last figure I saw was 80% of apps in Marketplace are free. Then again, most apps that you'd actually want are probably in that other 20%.
