Yahoo mail spam filter

I've had the same issue since I got my Droid last year. I don't get 100 a day but if I don't have Outlook running and my phone is getting emails I'll probably get 5-10 spam in my inbox everyday.

I think the problem lies with Yahoo sending down spam emails when Outlook/Android receives emails. Everytime I login to my Yahoo acct the spam folder is empty. Along with the fact that the Android email app doesn't have a spam filter built in.

I haven't tested it yet because I just changed it but there is a setting in Yahoo Mail to not send spam emails when POP'd. The setting is under:

- Options
- More Options
- POP and Forwarding
Set the option "When POP'ing my messages" to "don't POP spam".

Hopefully that'll fix most of the problem.

I want to thank the user that gave this advice, as I do not receive all of my yahoo spam into my droid, only some. I tried the suggestion below today, hopefully this will work! :)

I have successfully POPed my email from Yahoo to my HTC desire HD, but all the spam that Yahoo filters out automatically is also being POPed. I have been in to the setting as suggested and changed it to don't POP spam, but everytime i come out of the options menu and go back it it seems to have defaulted back to include spam...has anyone else had this issue? I'm starting to get a bit fed up of constant offers from dating websites and viagara suppliers!!

[WQUOTE="sifi, post: 725299, member: 121736"]Just got a desire which in general I love.

One downside to blackberry I came from is the android imports my spam as well as inbox. Is there any way I can stop this from happening. I'm getting around 100 spams a day that I didn't with blackberry and I could really do without.

Cheers[/QUOTE]

Can you try setting a browser to desktop mode and logging in from the browser? Yahoo doesn't like that, but you can persist. I still have it that way on an old Acer A500.

I also checked on Mailwasher. I used it years ago on computer and they have an Android version. However, some email like Outlook, some Google have blocked services from Mailwasher. I'd assume Yahoo did, too.

I've never downloaded any mail app except 3rd party services like Aquamail. I get Gmail there instead of the Gmail app.
