Did they just start charging?

So, a few days ago I logged into the Android Market, and discovered that they started charging for games. How long has then been going on?

I must admit, I got pretty spoiled with free apps, I'm not sure how willing I'm going to be, to blindly buy an app. Are there any that are worthy of the price?

It's been like a week, and I haven't seen anything worth paying for.

I have noticed that they've decided to replace the full free version of "Ringo" with a "lite" free version, One commenter has suggested the free, Lite version seems to not be as good as the previous version that was also free. Seems that updating that app is actually a downgrade. I wonder how many other devs are going to pull functionality theft in order to get people to pay for formerly free products?

Another good reason to backup your apps ... then if the updated app or the 'bait and switch app' is not what you want then you can just stay with what you had ...

That's not actually bait and switch.

Bait and switch is a sign in the store that says "Purple Dinosaur, $5.99" and then when you come in they say "oh, we're out of stock on Purple Dinosaur, but we have Pink Kitten for $6.99" They get you into the store with what seems like a great deal, but they actually try to get you to buy something completely different (that you don't want) at a higher price. Often the store doesn't even sell Purple Dinosaur, they just put up the sign to draw you in.
