Root Gingerbread/Gapps question

I installed Gingershedbread v1.7 and didn't know about the Gapps. Do I need to start all over with one file? Or can I just install Gapps somehow.

What's the latest Gingershedbread version w/gapps? Can someone post a link?

As far as I know, you absolutely need to install gapps before restarting, but you can always try a data wipe and then flash gapps and see what happens.
