I did have 3.3.0.1, then i decided to update to the latest one. I got pretty good battery life. under normal use and good reception i could get in between 20-30hrs of life. when im at work, thats a different story...HORRIBLE reception and pretty much roaming all day. still got 7-10hrs out of it.

now with 3.5.0.1, i get MAYBE 12hrs with normal use and good reception and at work its more like 3-4hrs with bad reception.

so basically it cut my battery life in half. did anyone else experience this with the new ROM?? any suggestions on how to improve my battery life?

Odd...I heard of this happening to another user too except he found that it was an app that he had that was doing this. Once he disabled the app or uninstalled it, his battery level went back up. The app had something to do with battery level too as in it was an app or widget that watched battery life.

Most people I hear about who have the Fresh ROM have superb battery life! Arguably, one of the best battery state ROMs for the Evo. I have never installed it on mine, but I hear it is good for battery life.

Check your battery status and what is on your RAM at the moment and what is taking the most power. Also think about any new apps you may have downloaded recently that may be causing this.

and i havent touched the kernel. have one that you suggest?
have you tried different kernels? i noticed that sometimes a kernel will react differently to some roms.

yeah the one in my sig works great for me. every kernel reacts differently from phone to phone. you can get the kernels in reference 2 of my sig as well. there is also a kernel guide in my sig that will help out with some of the terminology of kernels. also you may want to look into using setcpu as well. search this forum there are many threads that discuss the use of setcpu.

It could be any app really. Think of the newest apps that you have recently downloaded. Also check your battery usage and see what apps are taking up the most power. Unless it has changed due to the ROM or something else, you should be able to open Settings>About Phone>Battery Usage and it will tell you some things about your battery. Or if you have an Android Task Manager, you can open this up and it should show in one of the tabs, something about battery consumption in relation to apps.

battery use is always ~30-35% cell standby, ~30% phone idle, ~25% android system, ~10 display. then usually random games at %5 or less.

Baseband version is 2.05.00.06.10
PRI is 1.40_003

and i did delete that battery indicator this morning and i got 7hrs at work before i had to charge. which was pretty normal from my last ROM.

You need to update your radios. See the Rooting for Dummies guide - section 6 under after rooting. You've already got an updated ROM, so all you need to do is flash the radio combo update. There's not much other troubleshooting we can do before you do that. It will be a shot in the dark until then, as this is most likely your problem. Heck, some combinations won't even boot, so consider yourself lucky ;).

Glad it helped a little. The other guys here know what they are talking about. You should probably update your radio and do whatever else they suggest. That rooting for dummies guide is very helpful too.

This is actually my most STABLE rom I keep reverting back to whenever I have issues with other. Best battery life as well. I'm using PRL 1.77 though and a Baked Kernel 6. Your not gonna find this kernel floating around since they require you register and donate at developers website. Can pm if you want it. I try this on just about everything and it works great for Fresh.
