hi all...

Orrebmas has just released his beta... to all.
Evo HDMI out mirroring? - Page 60 - Android Forums

full hdmi out. it requires a special kernel to make it work fully. It should still work with some kernels, but some features will not work.

i have not tried it yet.. i dont have a hdmi cable yet.

i post it here.. but do thank and donate to orrebmas.

edit: replaced the file with the new file he just issued.

Thank you orrebmas. I've been following your work for some time in XDA and Android Central. I'm really glad you stopped by here as well. Can you tell us a little about the kernel that is being used for this to work? Not technical details but is it based off of something we know and how it will it affect the overall use of the phone and/or is the "kernel" specific to the app only? Example, I am using a Netarchy kernel, does your kernel replace that or as I asked is it specific to the app?

I've really been looking forward to this application since hearing the rumblings about it recently. As of yet I don't have an HDMI cable or the need for one really, especially since the stock HDMI capabilities are "crippled". But I've decided that I am going to be getting an HDMI cable just for your app :)

I'm not rooted and it has become even more tempting to just bite the bullet and get rooted, although I'd rather not get that ball rolling since I know I won't be able to stop getting new ROM's.

Keep up the good work, and hopefully I will see a non-root version in the near future so that I don't have to jump off the into the deep end of the root swimming pool.

I tried the beta out and it works for me. Im running the latest Myn's and Netarchy 4.3.2 cfs more. The frame rate is low, and my launcher pro transition effect didnt even register on the tv. It just flashed over to the new screen. All in all though it looks great on the 42 inch. The only major issue came when I tried to watch a movie. This app and the stock app had issues as they both tried to run. Is there a way to disable the stock hdmi app?

The app was not designed to replace the stock player, or any other app that is already functional over HDMI. That can be done and may become a user option in the future, but the current focus is not on this.

For those interested, Sam has made some serious progress on getting this working on AOSP. Right now, it was more of a proof of concept, but I would expect that as his Sense based app improves, you will see this released publicly very soon.

One of the best things about Sam is the speed at which updates come. He usually comes in under his suggested timelines, and even if he doesn't he is never far from his projected release dates.

Thanks a ton for this! I thought I had a bad HDMI cable, but this same cable works fine with Full HDMI Beta.

I haven't flashed the kernel yet, but just running it with the Netarchy kernel allowed me to view slideshows and play videos using the stock player. There was some flickering, and the mirroring wasn't working, but I'll edit this with my results after flashing the kernel.

Thanks again! This rocks!

Well guys it looks like it's been ported to an OC kernel. This was my daily kernel and now to have full HDMI on it is even better.

Below is the cable I bought the other day at a local frys to try on the stock HDMI kernel and works great. Great build quality. Don't try to skimp out and save a few bucks like I did a few months ago. That one was really crappy. It's still a very good deal.

Thank you orrebmas!

By the way, I rooted using unrEVOked back in December and haven't added any ROMs to my Evo yet.

So I installed your app that you provided onto my SD card and installed. It got to working once I clicked "Hardware off" then when I went back to look at other options, it stopped working. It was working great too! Full screen and everything, I wanted to change it from landscape mode to regular even if it would look a bit odd lol I guess that's what messed it up. So now I'm wondering what settings should I enable/disable to have it running again?

Also I am curious as to how you can shut it down once you are done using it besides shutting down the phone.
