I just picked up the Epic on Friday. I've been reading and learning alot here. Picked up a number of suggested apps etc.

I just got a notice for a "mandatory update" for the voicemail? I go ahead and install it. it says installation succesful....I click OK...it says please wait...verifying your account info. this may take a minute. it goes for quite awhile then I get an error message. (error T404) "account verification error" communication with the voicemail-to-text server has timed out. we will continue to verify your vm-to-text account status in the background. VM service will not be interrupted while we verify the account status.....Now it just keeps trying to verify by running non-stop...constantly running using up the battery etc.

Help!!!

the only thing i can say is to keep trying to install. i had a problem when first trying to install the vvm mandatory update and it kept getting an error. finally i just left it alone for a while and when i tried it again it download and everything is fine. as for the profile/prl/firmware/etc. sprint said to just leave it alone and its unnecessary as they do it for u when u first get the phone. how true? i dont know...they might have just been trying to get rid of me. they said if there is nothing wrong with ur phone (ie. you can make and receive calls and text and get online) then to just leave it alone. like i said they just might have been trying to get rid of me lol

Well it looks like overnight the thing finally stopped running and verified my account info...It now prompts me to check out their 30 free trial etc.

In the meantime I hooked up with google voice.

Now I don't know if I want my regular old voicemail...which was just fine with me. or use the google voice??

This is Jack from Sprint, there is a known bug that causes issues with this downloading of the update. Easy fix though.

Take the device out of 4G/Wifi, and try again, if that doesn't work, power cycle the device and try once more. The upgrade should download.

Thanks Voicemail guy.

I switched to the Google voice and I'm currently evaluating it...Though I will probably go back to the stock sprint VM.
