Help Release Date?

Hey Guys / Gals,

I am slowly beginning to wonder about this device. Initially, I was 100% on the Thunderbolt bandwagon, however, with the price and release date slipping I am starting to get curious about this device. Anybody have a good feel for what we can expect from this device? Do we have any idea on Release date? Anybody know if the boot loader will be locked like the Motorola devices? I know it is sporting a 2 gen Snapdragon Processor like the Thunderbolt. I am fine with that.

I am pretty sure the bootloader will be unlocked as the previous lg smartphones(ally, vortex, optimus all had unlocked bootloaders)

Should be the same processor that the Thunderbolt has, but the revolution will have HDMI out. So far reports are pointing to a mostly stock google experience, other than Bing and VZ Nav. If these reports hold true, and it doesn't have a locked bootloader, this will absolutely be my next phone. I'm so sick of futzing around with the Fascinate. It's such a spectacular device when it comes to screen and hardware, but the software problems and lack of support and tardiness of updates combine to tarnish what would otherwise be a wonderful android phone experience.

With it being "Binged" does that mean I can't get google? Does it just come pre-loaded with bing crap and then I can install Google stuff? I assume also I can use google navigation over VZ Navigator?

I'm assuming it will be a similar level of Bing and VZ bloat that the likes of the Fascinate ship with. But without a skinned interface (TouchWiz/Sense) and a locked bootloader (a la motorola) we should quickly see AOSP and SuperClean versions abound. I really hope this is the case. I mean, you can expect some crap on it. It's like buying a computer in a store. They are cheap as heck, but come with trial and bloatware galore to recoup some of the loss on the sale of the product itself. Some of the computers will allow you to reinstall Windows 7 in all its unadulterated glory simply using the key on the bottom of the computer. Some won't and you're stuck with manually removing the muck.

Let's hope the LG is easily cleansed.

Looks like the delay in Tbolt has to do with battery. HTC doesn't seem to know how to get good battery life. I trust LG more when it comes to battery and power management. I wouldn't jump to dual core + 4G LTE combo until it's proven to show reasonable battery time.

Just a guess, but I'm guessing April or May for the Revolution. Just a guess, mind you.

Well, I for one, thought it was much improved going from 2.1 to a 2.2 leak on the Fascinate. It greatly improved contact handling, as well as multiple google and email account handling. I am as close to right as rain again as I could be with froyo on the Fascinate now, and would be even more so if they ever get that TV out hack going ...

That's where the LG will come in to save the day. It has the nice HDMI output with mirroring. I will certainly miss the superAMOLED screen, but LG will have a much more stock android experience, and hopefully more timely updates. I just wish they would've gone with the QHD resolution like the new motorola phones. When you go from 4" to 4.3" you lose just a tad of your sharpness. Were it SuperAMOLED I would actually detest the 4.3" screen even more, but with a super LCD it will be ok.

Might as well. Then you'll have HDMI out w/mirroring. The TB doesn't have that.

If you're a sense fan, for sure, but remember the LG is getting the same class leading processor, the same great GPU, but will have more stock android and the already mentioned HDMI port. Honestly, the simple lack of the HDMI on the thunderbolt when its buddy, the EVO on sprint has it, is disheartening. I rather like HTC, even after owning a few Erises.

It could be due to the lack of hardware capabilities (528Mhz proc, 288MB RAM), either way it's very laggy. I'm curious to get my hands on the TB, but at the same time all the 'rumored' problems have me 2nd guessing. I read an article (from the end of Jan) that said the expected release date of the LG Revolution is sometime in March/April. Has anyone heard the same/different for possible release on the LG Rev?

My line is available for upgrade (and new every two) in April. April is what I've heard the most, but two reports said June is more likely because of the TB and iPhone combined. I just hope the Revolution hits before VZ nixes unlimited data. Not that I'd ever use it. I have unlimited data on my fascinate and have only gone over 150MB in one month out of the six I've had it. I have my mobile data always on, too. Sad, huh?

Nope. They'll keep pushing back the TB. Then they'll push back the Revolution as well. This is VERIZON, you know.

So do you think they intentionally delay Tbolt to keep people's interest in iPhone4? I also suspected so once, but now it looks to be more of technical issues in Tbolt and their LTE network. There are some reports on very poor battery time like lasting less than a few hours in 4G mode.

My point is that Revolution and even Samsung stealth might be ready for release technically ahead of Tbolt. Of course, it's up to Verizon to decide when to launch them in what order. At this pace, even Bionic doesn't look that far away like once it's complained.

All Verizon would care about is the 2-year contract and the service plan.

The only exception to the above rule is the iPhone - which Apple dictates (i.e. 2-year contracts ONLY, and NO Verizon bloatware or branding, etc.).

I think the Samsung Stealth is confirmed to have a dual core processor. If they are all released around the same time, I will be going w/ the Samsung. If the Rev and the Thunderbolt are released around the same time, I will go with the Rev. The only draw back I see with the Rev. is the camera. The Tbolt has an 8mp shoot while the Rev only has 5mp (rear camera). I like the Rev though because of the HDMI out.
