Or I just don't have enough patience. I followed this:How To: Root the NOOKcolor (AutoNooter)

I did the firmware update last night, and I'm pretty sure it was 1.1.0

neither download says it's for this, so...I thought I'd try them both:

the first time I did the 2.12.25 img and it hung on the boot image FOREVER, the n symbol...
then I tried to reset it by holding the power & n button repeatedly. It finally came up, but said it couldn't find the soft keys and I couldn't use the home screen.

so I tried it all again, same thing. (formatted the sd card between and completely started the directions over)

Then I tried the 3.0 and it's gone past the future of reading screen on to a cool little android guy, but it just keeps repeating that... it's probably been doing that for 15 minutes or more...

What now?? Can I just get back to stock??
Thanks ...I'm so bummed, I really wanted this to work!! :(

I so feel your pain! It took me several tries to get my NC to root and frustrated is a tame word for what I was feeling.

If you scroll down to "the official 'I can't get my NC to root' thread" in all things root, and go about half-way down the first page, you'll see my entries start. The advice I got may be of some help to you.

In the meantime, relax and take a deep breath. It does take patience to do this, and if your not technical, even more so. But keep plugging away - the payoff for both your NC and YOU is so worth it! :D

It won't even boot up after a factory reset now. It just hangs at the nook color screen. It blinks off and comes right back on to that screen over & over & over.... I let it set all night and all I got was the fancy android dude. So then when I finally got it to ask me if I wanted to do a factory reset I did, hoping it would fix it. No such luck :)

The problem is, you ran 2.12.25 when you should have run the 3.0 first. Something with the file system is probably currupted. No big deal, but you'll have the best luck just starting from stock [read below]

This thread will explain how to get your NC back to stock:

[HOW-TO] : Restore Nook Color back to stock EASILY!

This post puts that thread into a little bit simpler terms:

http://androidforums.com/nookcolor-all-things-root/284433-restoring.html#post2383347

Then, you will 1.0.1 and you can run the auto-nooter2.12.25 .img.

Let us know if you get stuck or have questions after that.

Aww, that's so sweet of you! I'm just glad that my experience could be of some help. I'm still just a Noob, but I'm figuring out all the great stuff that this little tab can do.

Glad to hear that it all worked out for you, and welcome to the club! :D
