Ive just purchased htc desire hd came with 8gb card so i also purchased 32gb card but when i put this in my signal drops to nothing and it will not let me add music any ideas

There have been loads of posts about people buying cards from unscrupulous sources - generally on eBay - and ending up with a small-capacity card disguised (both physically and, superficially, electronically) to look like a much larger one. What's generally suggested is for you to attach it to your computer, format it, then fill it up with large files totalling close to 32GB and then make sure all the files can be retrieved back from the card.

I have that and still have 10gb out of 16gb on memory card and 0.91gb on internal.

I noted that, when I got my Desire HD, the majority of the card was already full with maps (for Locations rather than Google Maps surely?), PDFs of the user manuals, a copy of HTC Sync and stuff like that.

I think your observation regarding your 16GB card is in agreement with what the other posters have said... 'stuff' on the phone is swallowing up approximately 6GB of space, which is why I went for a 32GB card - proportionately, more of the card is available for music, videos etc. (around 26GB).

That's odd the card what came with the phone was not loaded with anything, and when I downloaded google maps I moved them to the 16gb SD card I swapped the 8gb with to free up space on the phone which is why I have 0.91gb out of 1gb of internal memory on the phone. I guess the Canadian version is different because I sell these phones every day and don't see any usage out of the box such as everyone is suggesting.
