Get the my verizon data widget to work on your xoom.

Here is the process that I did to get the my Verizon app and data usage widget to work on my xoom. First setup you go online to to register your new number just like you would do with a cell phone. But when the system says it will text you temporary password you wont get it. Don't worry just call Verizon wireless and ask them if they can mail you your temporary (current) password via snail mail. They don't have any other way to get you your password. It will take about 5 business days but after you get the letter go back and finish your registration Process, input your current account info into your xoom and your done. It works great for me.

Hope this may help.

This isn't clear to me. Are you referring to the My Verizon website or the Verizon Wireless website? When looking at info on the Verizon Wireless site, I have both my Droid X and Xoom listed in the drop down box to select.

I am confused regarding the two different sites and what exactly one must do, on which site, to solve the data widget update problem problem. :(

skydogg, people who had no prior MyVerizon access because that had no existing account on a phone, can't receive an SMS with the password. Your like me and you had an existing account so the Xoom just pops up as an additional device. Your access was already set up via your phone. As such, you have an access password so you can install the app on the Xoom that tells you your data usage. Important if like me you went with the cheapest plan.

My data widget only shows the data usage on my HTC thunderbolt.
How do you guys get it to show the data usage for the Xoom?
I've tried logging in w/o WIFI and only 3G and it still doesn't work.
Thanks.

ps. does anyone have a recommendation for an app to toggle 3g on and off?

Open verizonwireless.com from your Xoom using the data widget. Make sure you are using 3G. Log in. View Bill, switch devices to your Xoom (NOW should open by default to your Xoom). Back out of the app, it should show your Xoom's data usage on your widget now.

I called them yesterday, and the guy I talked to went and got a phone. He asked me to turn off my xoom. He then activated that phone on my account, had me request to send the password through the website (it asks for your zip code and last 4 of social). He then read the password to me, which I typed into the website. Once in, he disabled that phone and re-enabled the xoom. PITA, but it beats waiting for the carrier pigeon.
