Root Upgrading the firmware of samsung galaxy mini

Whenever i connect my phone to pc using kies following message pop up

"A new firmware version is available.Ugrading may improve the performance of 'GT-S5570'.Do you want to upgrade?
current firmware version: PDA:KA6/PHONE:KA6/CSC:KA6(INU)
Latest firmware versionDA:KA7/PHONE:KA7/CSC:KA7(INU)"

Any body updated firmware using kie and what improvements you noticed

Ah ok - yea the only reason i asked about the country was because of the firmware version etc that you had mentioned and also to confirm that an update was available for the firmware available in India etc -

firmware upgrade stopped....i am using win 7....x86 drivers stopped responding......so no upgrade...

are there any settings on the computer or the s5570 to get the firmware upgrade? the samsung service helpline said that such an upgrade is not possible...he he....hieght of ignorance.....

Check your firmware version in settings<about phone<Build version if it is FROYO.DDKA7 then no upgrade will be available because it is the latest version.

I'm new to forum and to android too.I bought Samsung pop s5570 recently and when I installed kies it showed a firmware up to DDKA7....but when I tried to update it phone automatically gets disconnected and get reconnected again....this always happen and it happened on my friends pc too when I tried to update it...I have attached a screen capture too.....If anyone could help I would be very much obliged

Hey dude...whazz up...well i'm from india and my Build number is shown as FROYO.DDKC1....So should i really update my pop's firmware??? in kies it shows PDA:KC1 / PHONE:KC1 / CSC:KC1(INU) as the latest firmware...any suggessions???...Thanks guys...

I am guessing the problem is with Samsung Kies on Windows 7 machine .. I am running Windows 7 64 bit on my lappy and I also face the same problems outlined by others in the thread .. So I tried upgrading on my office desktop which run Windows XP 32 bit, it went off smoothly .. It took some time to download and after upgrading the firmware, the phone took a little bit longer than usual to boot up .. Working fine afterwards .. Havent seen any improvement or change so far ..

Thanks for the update mate....Yeah my lap also Windows x64 Home premium.....similar situation...update wont proceed...tried on a XP sp2 machine.....it seems it is working on that .....lets hope mine wont be a brick after all...

I think KC1 is the latest..so you are already up-to-date..I tried updating my KA7 .....to KC1 on windows 7 x64 machine.....didn't succeed...hopefully it will be a success on XP SP2

Thanks man for the heads up...Well i updated mine on Windows 7 x64...try using kies on xp service pack compatabilities set or something....good luck...

Hi,

I tried on 3 different Windows 7 x64 without a luck...finally I was able to do it on on VMware virtual system with XPSP2......yeah....

Its now KC1(SLK) ...(SLK)...coz I'm fro Sri Lanka I guess..

What do u guyz mean by rooting??? can anyone please tell me what is it done for??? cause this is my first smartphone i'm using so i'm not that well versed with all the tech terms u guys use...Thans guyz...and i really appreciate it...and is it something like jailbreak???

Android is based on linux kernel so rooting means getting root access to the OS.root is equivalent to windows Administrator user it can do anything. You can customize everything on your smartphone once you root.

One downside is rooting will invalidate your warranty.

Rooted successfully after upgrading to KC1 firmware.
