Help Moving Apps from phone memory to SD card?

Stock AT&T. I tried to root (unrevoked) a while back but it never took. I haven't tried again lately.

Stock AT&T = Android 2.1 which does not support moving apps to the SD card.

Options:
1. Rooting your phone will allow you to flash different ROMs that do support moving apps to the SD card.
2. Install the official AT&T Froyo 2.2 update and then you will have the ability to move apps to the SD card, however, this will prevent you from rooting your phone!!!!

Thanks for your help. Yes, after more research today I found that 2.1 doesn't have this capability. Is Froyo 2.2 update any good (if you know) or do you recommend rooting.
Now I'm torn between 2.2 update and rooting.

If you root, you can have the best of both worlds. On the XDA-Developers forum there is a Liberated Aria Froyo 2.2 ROM that is rooted, flashable and has the HTC Sense that we have all grown to love(?). This ROM has all of the AT&T bloatware removed and runs very well on the Aria.

I briefly played with a rooted version of the AT&T update Sunday afternoon and it seemed to run just fine, too.
