Incredible S vs Desire HD

From what I can tell, it's better to have the Desire HD really.

I think the IS has a better battery life and slightly more efficient processor and runs 2.3 (which really is no big deal over 2.2), but it has a smaller screen and upon its launch will probably knock the prices of the DHD way down.

Would any of you get an IS over a DHD, if so, why?

(kinda disappointed with the HTC announcement and wishing there was a proper DHD successor).

The Incredible S will launch with froyo initally and will be updated to 2.3.
From the pictures of Incredible S, i can see a bigger loud speaker grill located below the LED flash.Hoping that the Incredible S audio quality will be good than Desire HD.

Desire HD's weak points were battery life and audio quality.I hope HTC have solved these problems with Incredible S.

4.3" DHD and 4" screen on Incredible S will again come down to personal preference, whether u want a bigger screen ...

Will have to wait for the arrival and check out some reviews of Incredible S if it is really good than DHD...

I love HTC but am very disapointed with the Incredible S. Very little improvement from the Desire HD. I would have loved to have seen a phone with :

HDMI out
Dual core processor
Higher battery capacity
Super AMOLED or equivalent screen

Hope this comes soon.

No one will have super amoled appart from Samsung until samsungs new manufacturing plant opens up in a few months time. Samsung can only supply themselves with the quantity.

That will be great when companies like HTC can get a hold of those, they are really the nicest thing out there right now. The SLCD screen aren't bad but there is a difference.

What a subjective discussion this is! :)

I have recently upgraded from a BlackBerry Bold 9000 to an HTC Incredible S (Vodafone UK). I think the HTC Incredible S is a fantastic phone - especially coming from a BlackBerry. Battery life is excellent (so far), screen size is phenomenal, albeit 'only' 0.3" smaller than the HD - but much bigger than my BlackBerry. The screen/video quality is superb, better than my - wait for it - BlackBerry. The phone is very responsive and slick; if my BlackBerry was any slower than it would be going backwards.

It all depends on where you're coming from. If you're moving from HTC to HTC then you may be dissapointed. I'm not.

What are your sync. times for your apps.? Could you please write a short list of the apps which you are using? The reason is that I am actually not sure if I should recommend my girlfriend the Inc. S or rather the DHD which I have. But let us face it, when the screen is better and the battery performance straight out of the box is more than a day this would be amazing in comparison to my DHD which needed a lot of 'adjustment' to work over a full day.

Sorry for all my questions, but I am really curious about the battery life.

Best Wishes,
Tiago

Hi Guys,
I have a question about incredible s internal space. before i had desire hd and its shows 1.07 GB without installing any apps. and it was 1.5GB. now i bought incredible s it also shows 1.06GB internal space without installing any personal apps. and its is 1.1GB by htc. so what is the difference whether its stock rom is small one or it has same 1.5 GB like desire hd.

haris9: the internal storage was the thing I was really, really, really disappointed about when HTC launched the "S series". I thought they had learnt from their mistake and gone for at least 8gb of internal storage from now on.
I have the Desire today, and I can't even install new software updates anymore cus of low internal storage space. (yes, I've moved all apps available to SD card, and deleted ANY apps on the phone that's not necessary for me.)
So needless to say, I was gutted when I saw just about 1gb ROM on the news phones as well.

Really wondering what phone to get next now.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say "Sync Times"???

The DHD is a very good phone but it only has a battery capacity of 1230mAh and the Incredible S has a larger capacity at 1450mAh. Both phones have equally good screens, the DHD screen is only 0.3" (7mm) bigger than the "S".

The following are the apps that I currently have installed: Yahoo!, Adobe Photoshop Express, Amazon UK, SKY News, eBuddy Messenger, PayPal, British Airways, OpenTable, aCCleaner, Tastecard, ES File Explorer, American Express UK, Skype, BBC iPlayer, Bubble Level, ColorNote Notepad Notes, YouTube, Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash Player 10.1, Westfield London, London Evening Standard, Shazam, Dictionary.com, AA Breakdown & Traffic, Google Search, Google Maps, Google Latitude, Google Talk, Facebook, Quick Office, Navigation and KeePass Droid.

I find 1 GB for apps more than enough on the Nexus S. A lot of the new larger games automatically put data onto the SD partition. I have what I consider to be quite a lot of purchased games etc and still have over 600 MB free.

With Sync Times I was meaning the synchronisation times for the apps. By my DHD I needed to change them to 2-6 hours (application depending) as otherwise they drained my battery to quick.
It would be just interesting if you already tweaked any synchronisation times to reach your amazing battery life in comparison to the DHD. Generally would you prefer the Inc. S over the DHD for a new phone (without contract?).

BTW. I dont think that the DHD is a real S-Lcd as they are actually only possible to a screen size of 4" (xda-forum).

Sorry for confusing you and many thanks for your patients ;-).

If I had the choice then I would prefer the Incredible S and not the DHD. Why? Because Vodafone UK have locked me into a 24-month contract and so I want to make sure that my phone had all the latest features to keep me satisfied (!) for the next two years.

haven't read this thread at all so this may contain info already posted.

i have the DHD my partner has the IncS

dhd bigger phone and screen (obviously)
inc.s better battery
cameras are the same In my opinion.

not much separates the 2 phone TBH speed is almost the same most of the time DHD is actually faster but not really noticeable.

some people find the shape/size of the manly DHD a little awkward so if you do the incs is perfect!
