He wants to turn his PC into a Wifi hotspot so he can connect his DHD to it.

Go into Control panel
Open “Network Connections”
Right click on “Wireless Connection” and click on “Properties”
Click on the “Wireless Networks” tab and select the check-box which says “Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings”
Under “Prefered networks” click “Add”
Type a name in “Network name” text box
Select “Shared” from the options under “Network Authentication”
Under Data encryption select “WEP” and type in your password in “Network Key” field and now click “OK”
Now the new HotSpot should show in the list of preferred networks.
Click on the “Advance” button and select “Computer-to-computer (ad hoc) networks only” and press close
Hit “OK”, we are done with the wireless connection properties

Didn't those work?

It should still be the same procedure. Have you enabled Internet Connection Sharing on the PC?

Here's a guide with pics -

Making the Wireless Home Network Connection in Windows XP Without a Router

See this from your Link :

1.
The first step will be to install an 802.11b wireless card in the main computer and configure it as a computer-to-computer (ad hoc) wireless connection.
2.
The second step will be to install a wireless card in a second computer.

She said from PC to PC and must 2 wireless cards installed ? I want from PC to phone ?

Pc to pc isn't to be taken literally, your pc has the ability to be seen as an AP (access point/hotspot), at least it can with a dedicated pci wifi card.
Your phone will then have something to connect to via wifi.

I don't know this adapter's specifics, so can't say whether it will or won't work for you.

I just know my pci wifi card comes with the ability to be an AP, as well as connect to a router in the usual way. (but not at the same time, one or the other)

Doesn't the hotspot procedure given by el presidente work regardless of what wifi device you have?
You must know somebody with a wifi enabled pc, the only way to know for sure is try it out.

If you were connecting 2 PC's you would, but as you're only setting up one as an access point, you'd only need the 1. The DHD has inbuilt Wifi. Could you get him to explain why you'd need 2 cards?

Does this link help at all? It takes the 2nd PC out of the equation which I think is what's confusing the matter.
