Help So with tiering and all...

Tiered data plans are gonna put a serious damper on Google's plans for people to use the "cloud" for everything. Carriers and record labels are too greedy for it to be the best option for many people. I would prefer manufacturers include iPod-like storage in our smartphones.

This phone comes with 8GB onboard and a 32GB microSD card...as much storage on the card alone as the largest iPhone.

Did I mis-read what you were saying?

I'm talking iPod storage (160gb). Even though the 40gb in the TB is plenty for me it's nowhere near what my entire music collection is. That's the pull of the cloud and Google Music; being able to listen to any song in your 500gb collection at any time.

Whoever spins for tiered-only plans are a tad naive and falling into VZW hands for getting shafted. Only folks that do not use Flash much or stream other data will be in the clear.

Think about it: They WANT you on tiered, because they EXPECT a lot of folks to go over and be charged for it. It has far less to do with being network overloaded and faaaar more to do with making your bill each month even FATTER.

Why would you want 4G unless you WERE going to use a lot of data? Do you folks actually think you will get value-add out of 4G premium costs unless you actually stream video or do much downloading? GB data will pile up QUICKLY with 4G, because you will want to use it.

VZW is selling you crack via 4G and you will not even know it until you use it.

Yes, some folks already get all of this, but for others, it will be a harder lessen.

Yep, lower level users will be good, but a lot of other folks will be filling up VZW revenue stream- as designed.

Most (by far) cloud usage is done from PCs with high-speed Internet connections - not cell phone data plans.

Google's plan is to include cloud storage for music at some point. While that music is stored on your computer or wherever, that still would need to make it to your phone. That happens via your data package if you are not on wifi.

Yep. For the consumer, 4G and tiered charges are an oxymoron. If you do not plan on using much data, why have 4G in the first place??
