I have been waiting for over a month for verizon to get in a refurb white fascinate, my current one, the GPS will not lock at all, and the back speaker is terrible. So after complaining how I have been waiting so long for a replacement, the rep tells me "well what we can do is offer you a trade in on a refurb Droid X, Droid Eris or a Droid 2 global." I was shocked that they would even say that, I mean what kind of a trade in is a fascinate for a eris? long story short I'm still waiting for Verizon to get in a refurb white fascinate, I just thought I would share what they told me, I find it kinda funny.

So i didn't see a black refurb fascinate on your list, did they offer you that? it would probably be closer than the rest to what you currently have. i have a refurb black one and now that i got rid of all that Verizon crap, now running Super Clean 9 with eb01 kernal, and modem. This phone ROCKS!!!!

I dont even find a white fascinate on Verizons site anymore, I there any difference other than color?

they did offer me a black one, but the reason I have a white one is it was a Best Buy exclusive, to me, I like to be different, not many people have a white SF, another option they told me "well we could always send you a black one and you could use the white back on it" honestly, id think that would look tacky, what would be the difference of that, or taking a black one and painting it white, I told them I'll wait for a white one to come in stock

So to make a very long story short: My white Fascinate echoes in my ear constantly, has problems with the noise cancellation mic, emails will not come through, etc. I called Verizon within a month of buying it and they said to wait for the OTA update because if the problems continued I could still get a WHITE fascinate through them later. Less than 90 days later I finally get fed up with this phone so I call Verizon and end up talking to 6 different Supervisors, all with different info. I was offered the same phones you were and then told on the very next call that I was "mistaken because Verizon doesn't offer loaner phones." I was rudely told to just take the black one and change the battery cover. I told that moron to check with whoever told him that cause its the front bezel, the side buttons, and the back cover that are white. Sounds tacky but would look even tackier. To top it all off the last Supervisor I talked to was sooooo sure that he knew they would get a white one in stock he would call me the very next day to let me know. So guess what? He did call me only to tell me that I would never get a White Fascinate from Verizon cause they've never had them in stock! Only through Best Buy. No matter what I would only be able to get a refurb black one, not even new. So I am now left with A) Get a black refurb from Verzion, B) Root the phone to see if it helps any, C) Pay to ship this to Samsung and have no phone for 3 weeks or more. I'm not sure who to be more mad at, Samsung or Verizon. Really starting to hate this phone though. Good luck on getting ur phone fixed. Please post if there is some loop hole or something to getting a new one in White or even a refurb in White. Thanks.

There is no noise cancellation Mic.

Also, did you try going through BestBuy instead? Because yeah, they're the only place that had the white ones.

And I hate to sound like a jackass, but that's kind of the price you pay to have limited edition things. But I would think that BestBuy would have the similar deal to Verizon, warranty or trial period wise.

My daughter and I and I are having the same problem of the Fascinate not being able to connect to the mac after the update. Yesterday I started with technical support at Verizon. They couldn't do anything so they transferred me to tier two support. She couldn't fix it so she transferred me to Samsung technical support. From there I was transferred to Samsung tier two support. She said "the only way this can be fixed is with the 2.2 update. Verizon has it but she doesn't know why they have to put it out OTA".
She transferred me back to Verizon where they offered me a Droid 2 or a Droid Pro. I don't know anything about them. Any thoughts?

Can you tell me exactly how you are connecting? As a linux user, I kind of had the same issue but not longer.

Well here's some semi-good news for you. I just got off the phone with a very nice rep who is sending me out a "like new" quality tested BLACK (ugghhh) phone with a BLACK battery cover. If you ask them for it they have to/should at least check for you to see if the cover is ALSO in stock. They also told me that if the "like new" one sucks then to just send it back. So if I get a great one that works like it should then sweet. If not then I've lost nothing and I'm just stuck with the WHITE one. I feel good that the one coming in the mail may actually have gone through some better quality control testing than from the factory. Others may disagree but it makes me feel optimistic. Hopefully this helps some people with the same problem...

well coming from personal experience, "certified like new" is another way of saying "someone else's broken crap that we cleaned up and are sending it to you" I have gone through 5 SFs now, and the refurbs are getting sickening, and the very funny thing is, all of the problems I have been having are almost the same, 3 of them no signal in my area, the original one I bought from best buy overheated and shut down after 20 minutes of playing Angry Birds, and now this one with the poor GPS and back speaker, hope your refurb works out for you, I'm still waiting for VZW to get a white one in stock thats "like new"

Well PLEASE report back here if you do get a "like new" WHITE one from Verizon. They told me multiple times that they will NEVER get a WHITE one because it was a Best Buy exclusive deal. Samsung told me to send it in to them at no charge but at least one week of not having a phone isn't going to work for me. I'll report back once I get my refurb BLACK one from Verizon.

My dad had the signal issues with his first Fascinate. His replacement is working quite well. My Fascinate has also been pretty solid since day one, but I tweak, mod, and monkey with kernels and roms and such on it frequently. Nevertheless, it treats me quite well.

My sister had hers replaced, and her replacement so far has been quite good. My brother hasn't had any issues with his from day one either. He loves it, so far. A co-worker has had nothing but problems with hers though. She had trouble with stock 2.1. The phone continued to get slower and less responsive, despite the OTA updates they released. I cleaned it off for her and put the EB01 leak of froyo on it. She loved it ... for about two days. Now, to no fault of her own, it's getting slow and sluggish again. And the stock email app doesn't erase emails. At all. I'm worried that her phone might be defective beyond the software.

As for my wife's phone, hers ran fine and things worked with both 2.1 and the 2.2 leak that's on it now. It's fast, stable, and responsive, but her battery life is CRAP. I don't understand it. It has the same launcher as mine, it's only a couple weeks old, it has the same leaked 2.2 build, and it has the same conservative battery settings. She went to bed with it at 56% battery life. It died before morning. I've NEVER seen my Fascinate do that, regardless of build.

It's disheartening the high failure rate, but it seems that if you get a good one, then it's really a super awesome phone. I sure love mine. It's nothing short of an amazing device, and everyone is immensely impressed when I show it off to them.

Interestingly enough, my dad had the white one from Best Buy, and his was having those signal issues. His Fascinate couldn't pass the "Eagle Pass Test" in Wyoming. It dropped calls there every time, and he consistently ran on only one or two bars. My Fascinate never drops calls on Eagle Pass. He got the white one replaced with a black one because that's all Verizon could give him. The stores simply don't stock the white ones. Best Buy does, and he was outside Best Buy's return policy, and thus had to get the return on the 1 year hardware warranty.

They did let him keep the white backplate. :D

I'm kind of jealous. My black backplate shows scratches and smudges galore, hehe.

So what is the status on your dad's new BLACK phone? Does he like it? Is it working better than the last one?

Also: Just got my BLACK "Certified Like New" phone yesterday. I actually am impressed with it. Looks brand new. Backplate they sent is kind of a silver black which is kind of cool looking. Phone doesn't seem to echo in my ear. People already tell me I sound better. I noticed right out of the box I had over 3 bars, more than I had on the White one. Maybe this is my lesson to just always buy from Verizon and not worry about "Exclusive" phones. Lesson learned.

PS: The WHITE backplate on the black phone looks terrible, just sayin. I tried it. Emergency back up if you break urs maybe but that's it.

well looks like VZW got in some as the rep put it "clean" SF in white, again I was offered a change in phone, but this time, if the next phone is faulty, the rep told me, he will get managers approval and give me a brand new phone of my choice, call me skeptical, but it sounds too good to be true, all I can say is fingers crossed that this one is the one that finally works for me

I work for Best Buy. Depending on the store and the item stock, we do honor manufacture warranties. I'd go to your local Best Buy and see what they can do. Worse case they'll send it out to service give you a loaner phone till they get some news about it. I almost bought the white one I'm happy I didn't.

Verizon's terrible with their customer service. I got a $917.00 cellphone bill from them, in the 3 weeks it was "being investigated" they shut my service off 3 times, i talked to 15 people including the manager at the Verizon store and couldn't explain why the bill was so high or why my brother's phone kept shutting on and off. I ended up e-mailing everyone in our state that was on the government side of Verizon and finally reached their formal complaint line. Issue was resolved in 1 hour rather then the 40 hours I originally put into it.

Honestly I'd do the same thing I did. I'd go e-mail someone in Verizon corp. and see if they can get the issue forwarded. I know most company's such as Samsung and best buy if you can get them to link with our customer service lines you can get an VRA (Vendor Return Authorization) and get a new phone. It's worth looking into if your under manufacture warranty.
