Another Thunderbolt released on 17th rumor

I worked for Alltel 10-11 yrs ago as a data sales engineer. I have some of the folks that I used to work with on my Facebook. One of the guys I used to work with is now a regional sales manager. A couple of weeks ago I posted on his wall asking when the Thunderbolt will be released. he replied that he didn't know but wanted it as well. That's pretty much par for the course the last few weeks.

He posted on my wall late Friday evening "Thunderbolt on 17th!". I have no reason to disbelieve him and my reason for believing him is that he was always a stand up guy with me. So there you go, take it for what it's worth. Sorry for adding to the rumor mill. I didn't post this earlier because I thought there might be an announcement this weekend.

I can but it's set to private so if you aren't one of my friends then you won't see anything. Also, I'm not 100% sure that this guy wouldn't catch some heat if his name is attached to this.

No one has any reason to disbelieve anyone until the date comes and goes. I actually think the 17th makes more sense now since there isn't really another phone/device that Verizon will release this week. I guess I should probably figure out how to root the phone in the event that this phone is released this week.

I wish I knew how to "root" and latest "ROM" and all the other cool sounding stuff you guys do. I know there are links here about how to and what it all means, but anything I've ever checked out, still seems tricky and makes me think I'm gonna f up my phone. I wish there was a step by step for monkeys, cause maybe then I could do it.

The only thing I have ever rooted was my nook color. And it was very easy. Also it impossible to break the nook color by rooting it as it boots to the SD card

When this phone is rooted there will be a step by step in the All Things Root thread. Or you can go over to XDA in the Thunderbolt android development thread and they will have a step by step rooting thread over there.

My first Android experience was a few weeks ago with the color Nook. It was fairly straightforward and I am now running Honeycomb on it. Been quite stable so far. I can't make root explorer work but thats about the only one I've had issues with. I highly recommend learning the steps and the logic behind the steps. Then you can root, install ROM's, etc. on any Android.

I would think Verizon would want to announce the date at least a week or two in advanced to build up hype. Also, closer they get to QTR 2, better their numbers going to look for QTR 2. VZW already got targeted sells from ihorn

I think considering this phone was rumored to be released more than a month ago, the last thing they want is a 2 week buildup. I'd say they benefit better from a "you can pre-order the phone now, and it will be available in 2-3 days" than a "the phone will be released in 2 weeks, we promise!" Of course this is ALL speculation....

LOL..how much more hype you need! I got people I know who aren't even really into the tech game texting me asking when this thing is coming. Vzw and HTC, along with Best Buy have been prepping for the TB for a while now. Its going to be a very BIG device for all 3 companies. The only one Question that is really left to be answered is...Will it live up to the Hype? If it doesn't vzw is going to get creamed in the PR Dept because of all they're 4G talk, and because of how long it took to push this thing out and now its a dud.

However if it lives up to the Hype, well then a lot of people would agree on saying it was worth the wait!

Honestly, i dont think this phone can flop, As long as its an EVO that runs faster, then its pretty much golden.

I can see people being pissed if the 4g network is as good as advertised, but the phone itself is almost a guaranteed hit

Hope the price is Besides the radio, all other chips on board and LCD tech are well past the top end of their cost curve. The 8655 is a version of a chip now six months in its life cycle (8255)- long time in chip years.

Seems over priced even for phone inflated prices.

Local VZW store in Indiana just tweeted they will have ThunderBolts on store shelves on the 17th and reminding people to come pick one up that they wont last long.
