Ok guys I am on the final stretch now! Ive rooted, S-OFFed, put custom Rom in, changed font and changed bootanimation! And now it seems splash screen is the only thing left for me to do! :D But I need some guidance.

Ive sorted out the image in 24bit RGB colour bitmap and its in the correct 480x800 size. But I cant seem to find a good tool to covert that into img file. Ive trawled through pages and pages of info on xda but once again there are so many ways of doing this but none clear as far I am concerned! I found nbimg is that the way forward?? I am scared of bricking my phone hence why I am on here requesting for help :)

Once Ive changed the image to img should I flash that through the fastboot?? Put the img in the SDK/tools folder and use command to flash??

EDIT: What is eng Hboot?? I dont have that on my Desire.

I read the last page, but we cannot confirm if the person was using it correctly. He didnt state he was in fastboot. His has an error that looks as if he was not in fastboot. It was the same error you got when you were not in fastboot I think

I haven't used the latest version for Splash, but I used the latest version for Radio (most risky thing to flash) and it was fine. I splashed a while back and that was also fine.

The worst that happens by trying it is that it doesnt work.

LOL what a surprise. It froze! I had my screen on fastboot and it was plugged in but no go! The utility froze on pushing and flashing splash. Just underneath the fastboot there is a bootloader. Would that work?
no, it has to use fastboot
seems like your pc doesnt like android flasher

try using a different machine if you can

Right ok. Ive been with Avast for over 5years now Its never caused me any problems. Do you think I should turn it off?

EDIT: Ive noticed this bit on the android flasher thread on xda:

NOTE: Make sure you have USB debugging enabled. HTC drivers and fastboot/hboot driver must be installed.

Can i flash it with phone turned on and USB debugged??

just cos a mate of mine had wierd issues where certain apps didnt work due to putting things in temp files and the AV was not releasing them from its scanning process so they couldnt be used

Ok cool rasta but Id like to investigate this. What I should be looking for?? Im in the temp folder now.. but oblivious to what I should be looking at!? I can see the avast files and android flasher in there.......
