True camera flashes don't have that hyper-white LED color. So, the yellowish tint they've added to the LED flash seems to mimic a "real flash" rather than a keychain LED light ... which is a good thing.
The color of my LED flash on my previous phone was a crystal white, while this is more of an ugly yellow. I was simply curious. I figured it was to mimic true flash as I do a bit of photography myself but wanted to be sure it was not a defect on my phone. Thank you for the replies!
Maybe I should try one at the ATT store. Mine is definitely a green-ish yellow of some sort and not the crystal white my previous phone was. And yes the sun is technically...5600K color temp which is close to pure white but based on the atmosphere and other stuff we perceive it as yellow. Of course color is technically non existent, without light you have no color. but thats a new can of worms we wont open on a cell phone forum
I'm hoping to see more Xenon based flash tech on phones in the near future. The LEDs (even dual setups) are so weak. I'd like to see a single LED for constant light source (for video, "flashlight" function), and a still photo Xenon.
I never said that the sun emits yellow rays. I said the sunlight is yellow. That's taking into account that the light is filtered through our atmosphere.
When viewed from a space based telescope, or a ground based telescope that has a neutral filter on it, the sun is actually white. (As you said, all color bands.) Yet, it is classified as a "Yellow Dwarf" sun, I believe.
Regardless, if you want the flash to mimic NATURAL Sunlight, it has to have a yellow tint to it. That's what I was saying. Unless you are on the moon taking pictures. Then, a perfect white flash is best.
My atrix that I bought on launch day has the yellow tint. But my girlfriend's atrix has the white led. It's extremely different and I will post pictures later, any thoughts?
