Verizon giving $50 AMEX cards for preorders.

Don't know if this has been discussed but my verizon here in De just called me and asked if I was still interested in the TB (I purchased an IPhone for the wife there last week and asked about it) and the employee told me that if I preordered the TB today I could choose either $50 off the price of the phone or a $50 AMEX gift card. Nice!

Yeah, I can't believe they called me & offered that. I was worried that I wouldn't get out of work and get one on launch and in fear of a sell out, but now I can just preorder tonight & pick it up late Thursday.

Kind of related... while waiting on the TB I grabbed a DX on their 14 day trial. The trial ran out last Sat so I switched to Sprint to continue waiting and told VZ my reason for leaving was the TB not being out.

I got a call today from VZ saying the TB would be out Thursday and that if I'd come back to them, they would wave the $35 activation, give me my first month of service free, and pre-order me a TB I could pick up at my local VZ store on the 17th. They asked if I could hold on to speak to a provisioner and see if they could even swing me a "special" deal on the TB. I was on the road though and said I'd have to call them back. I did tell them I wanted my wife to move over with me and they said they could give the same deal to her.

I was very surprised.

I just got off the phone with the main sales # and they said no pre-orders.

Called a local Verizon store and they too said no preorders and that I just have to come early on Thursday and hope I get one.

$249.99 is the price I heard from both places.

Must just be your Verizon store - I called the two closest Verizon Corp stores to me and both advised no preorder and first come first serve.

She didn't call it any type of promotion and it was a corporate store. I'm going to be pretty pissed if I get there tonight and they don't know what I'm talking about. The girl, Rachel, told me she's leaving at 4:30 tonight & to just mention her name so I guess its a store promotion & I'm not just getting a hook-up b/c of my good looks.

I just called my local store in Bellevue, Wa, and sure enough, i get the $50 off with my preorder.

Make sure you can upgrade with Verizon else they'll charge your card and then say "oops we're canceling your order, you'll get your money back in 2-3 business days"....

update....called them, they are accepting pre-orders no gift cards or anything...guy didnt seem to know much though he said phone was 299 then i was like thats not wat corporate selling for and he said oh price will be whatever verizon says
