Hey guys and gals. How does the SD card work with Android. I plan on keeping music and other media on it.

Can I set the phone to store pictures and video that are taken with the camera there?

How about apps, can I store them on the card, should I store them on the card?

Can/should I move apps I have already installed onto the MircoSD?

On a side note, should I use Doubletwist or the Moto software to transfer my music over? I know Doubletwist will copy playlists, how does the Moto software work?

Yup, I think it should do that by default.

Well you can move parts of most apps. If you go into settings>>applications>>manage applications, and click on an application, there is a box that says "move to SD." That will move a good chunk of most programs. If the box is greyed out, you can't move it.

I'm showing 16 GB of internal storage on the atrix specs.. if that's true, you could download every app you'd ever want and more and maybe take up a gig.

Alternatively, there is another way of moving apps to SD, called "apps to SD." It involves, rooting, and repartitioning the SD card, but if you have 16 gigs of internal, I don't really think its worth it for you.

On a side note, should I use Doubletwist or the Moto software to transfer my music over? I know Doubletwist will copy playlists, how does the Moto software work?

Whatever seems easier to you. I know a lot of people like doubletwist.. I just mount the phone as a disk drive and transfer folders straight onto the SD using windows.

Thanks for all the info, good stuff. I also downloaded Ezpdf. Anything special I need to know about storing PDFs on the card (special folders or anything?), and having Ezpdf read from there?

On the Atrix apps can only go into the internal storage. Anyways, download app2sd to easily see which apps can be moved. Personally I move 0 apps. That way when I connect via USB none of my apps break.
I have over 50 apps and still got 1.34GB of free space for apps.

Doubletwist might not see your SD card, and only see the internal storage. I checked its settings and do not see an option to pick. I don't have a microsd installed on my atrix tho so that might be why.

So for your micro sd, the camera app can write to it. You can also store media on it like songs and videos.

I have been hearing conflicting things regarding moving apps to MicroSD. Mine today is working as you described (I am only seeing the internal SD for apps and not the SD Card). Other people seem to be able to do it for some reason.
