So has anybody found this leaked netflix app?

Is there ANY chance at all that the app will run on piece of poo processor?

Just found it.
I doubt it works.
I have not heard of one person using it successfully yet.

It doesnt work because netflix hasnt activated the severs for it. They are using netflix as a release application for newer phones. Until one of those phones comes out, no streaming!

Well when they do turn it on... wonder if it will work.

**EDIT**Does anyone know the official release date?
One good thing is that it loads my que perfect. You can also search the movies.
It tries to load the movie for streaming but as Grz pointed out they havent turned the server on yet.
I am actually excited that this may actually work when the time comes.
If it does this phone may actually be worth keeping past the upgrade date. FINGERS CROSSED**

Well I believe it is a completely different system than flash. The only reason flash doesnt work for us is because they didnt build it for our processors archetechure.
Netflix uses Silverlight. It deffinately tries to start Streaming and then cuts off. This is what happens to everyone that loads it. Even on the Nexus S. So thus far we are on par with everyone else who has tried it.

This is most likely due to the information that Grz posted above.

Well yes I am deffinately waiting with baited breath.

Just tried it on an Ally running Velocity 0.4. Everything works, short of streaming.

Even if it doesn't stream, it's nice to finally have an official Netflix app. I never trusted my Netflix creds with third party apps.

Netflix says "They are the only processor secure enough for their media"

Yeah well I say that is complete Garbage. I think Qualcomm just struck a deal that is going to sell millions of their phones and they most likely paid Netflix BIG!!

Well all that last part is my conjecture but it seems reasonable given the information at hand.

I still hope but yet the hope is greatly diminished.
However if it doesent work... Who knows maybe Our incredible Devs can cook somthing up.

P.S. anyone know what processor the HTC thunderbolt has?
How does this new LG in which the netflix app was ripped from compare to the Thunderbolt?

The processor being "supported" by Netflix for the DRM isn't in any phones yet, not even the TB

It's possible Devs can cook the DRM libraries out of the hardware, but I'm not leaving much hope.

I thought they used Microsoft silverlight.

Yes netflix uses Silverlight on PC, but that may be different on a mobile device. What does the iphone use for streaming netflix? I know they have a working netflix application and they definitely don't have flash.

As for doing any sort of trickery, come on. If that were possible don't you think someone would have tried that with flash? We will not be able to use this application.

Here are two pics of the very functional menu of the Netflix App from my Ally.

Everything is just as functional as the regular Netflix site... except the all important Actual Streaming of the show.
Hope that clears it up a bit.

They have stream lined this app very nicely. I honestly cant wait to have a phone that will run it.

Heres still a small glimmer of hope that our Ally can. I really Doubt it though with the research that I have done today.

But to recap.... No Flash needed.

One would think that they would build the DRM mechanism right into the application, since you will need to provide your account credentials to gain access to content.

It sounds like all devices are producing the same results at the moment. I think we should honestly just wait it out until NetFlix activates their streaming content on Android and try it out. Someone just tried it on the Thunderbolt which has the same Processor as the LG revolution... No dice.
I guess servers will be off until the Revolution release.

They opened it for demo and closed it again. They probably didnt have everything fully set up at the time of the demo. So they could have shut it off to get everything ready and wait until the launch of the revolution.

I know we talked about this some yesterday..... but what do you think the odds are of us getting Netflix going on other than the specified devices?

I know these DRM libraries seem to be the key. You think we could somehow mimic the DRM libraries in some kind of hacked version for the mass of people with "unsupported Android devices?" Might you be

As depressing as it would be to not have NetFlix streaming to my Ally, I do have USB tether / Wifi hotspot, so I can always watch through my tethered laptop, which does have a much higher resolution display. This is definately not enough reason for me to give up my Ally with USB/Wifi tethering for the LG Revo which will likely be quite sometime before it is released / rooted / USB / WiFi tether apps redeveloped for rooted user.

(Not to mention another whole year before I can get a new phone at reduced 2 yr. contract price.)

Oh no I agree with ya brother. I just think it would be awesome if we could get Netflix going.

Thats one of the only 2 things that dissapoint me by this phone. That and Flash.
No big deal I can be content till that day comes.
