So I am getting the bolt tomorrow and will be giving my dad my original droid. It is rooted running CM 6.1.2. I would like to be able to keep my phone set up the way I have it now, ringtones, settings, menus, ect. I know market apps are tied to the gmail account, but other than those is it possible to keep everything exaclty how I have it, just activated on his line and linked to his gmail? I did a google search and couldnt really find what I was looking for, any help would be appreciated :D I need to mail him my phone and would prefer to have it all set up so he can just call and activate. This will be his first smartphone so he really has no idea how to set stuff up and i wont be around to help.

All you should really have to do is go into "Accounts" and delete all of the accounts listed. Then, set up a google account with his email.

Ok thank you. I know most people wipe data/cache when they get rid of their phone but there isnt anything on mine that I would care if he has access too. I just want it to work for him. On a side note do you know if he is coming from a dummy phone (env 2 touch) can he just call *228 option 3 to activate his phone or will he have to call customer support and/or visit a store? I just dont want him walking into a vzw store with a rooted phone lol

He will have to add a data package so I would think he will have to call, have him do the *228 thing. If that doesn't work it will prompt him to call customer support. They will be able to do everything over the phone so there won't be a need to go into a store.

He has a data package. I changed our plan to the family data plan promo awhile back so he has a data plan just not a phone that really can use it. That is why I am giving him my old phone. Thanks for the help.

So I have it all set up, do I need to go online under his phone and do the "activate new device" putting in the ESN/MEID number then call *228? Ive never activated a device like this before so I am completely lost. On the vzw website it says to have the 4 digit order number found in my shipping box ready... since the phone is 14 months old I obviously dont have that. I would tell him just to take it in to VZW and have them do it but its rooted :( Can anyone walk me through this?
