Anyone know how to redeem the warranty?

I an ironic twist, an almost completely un-complained about part of my phone is failing: the headset jack.

Does anyone know how to do a legitimate warranty claim? Or do I just need to head to a local AT&T store and complain until they give me another one?

You can try AT&T, they may do something to help you. But the truth is, for something that is outside the 30-day window, and is probably a manufacturing defect, they will send you to Samsung.

Hopefully you registered you phone with Samsung after you got it? (obviously it is still within the 1 year warranty window...)

I just called them (number is available at their site), spoke with their "technician" and after a few minutes of "troubleshooting" was given an RMA#, and instructions where to send the phone. There was the standard blurb, "Did you drop it? Is there water damage? You understand we can't be responsible if there is damage to the phone."

It is possible they will just send you a replacement, but more likely they will want you to send it to them for repair.

They send you complete instructions via email, and you get an email with a UPS shipping label to print. So, it doesn't cost anything to ship it - but your time to box it up and get it to UPS. They paid for 2nd Day air.

You can see you status updates on your repair in your account area on their site. Their cryptic, and spotty, but at least you have some idea what's going on. Mine shows:

*03/16/2011 //19:46:36 //RSI_TECH15 //
FCL/FXX-TIB, GPS-RAN EDL & NAM CLEAR (IMEI WRITE), GPS WORKED, SENT TO SW---LSC---
*03/12/2011 //10:18:12 //RSI_TECH2 //

Whatever...

Unfortunately:
1) you're without the phone. They don't send a replacement, they attempt to repair yours. I shipped mine Wednesday last, they got it late Friday and started on it on Saturday.
2) It comes back "stock." I don't know if that means Android 2.1 or 2.2.
