iPod hacks.

Seemed like the best place to put this, been trying for days to hack my 6th gen Classic to run Rockbox. It's still says unstable and isn't released for install via the Rockbox utility yet for this reason, so the only way is to do it manually. Doing this in Linux with IPod Classic iLoader Installation - freemyipod.org as my guide, getting this back in my terminal.
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "ipoddfu.py", line 26, in <module>
import libipoddfu
File "/home/ninja/Downloads/libipoddfu.py", line 27, in <module>
import usb.core
ImportError: No module named usb.core

I've tried with the iPod in DFU mode as it says and in diskmode, nothing, Ran the terminal in my folder with all that stuff, as well as dumping all the Python stuff on the iPod and trying that way with more of the exact same results.
Also, tried in windows but for what ever reason the 3.5 net framework will Not install for me.

Get an older Rockbox capable iPod(or other supported player) from somewhere. It may be a while before Rockbox is stable and usable on the 6gen iPod Classic. The Rockbox community is still trying to reverse engineer it.

What FreeMyPod.org are doing is a fork of Rockbox(such is the nature of Open Source Software). So if you can't make it work, basically you're on your own. Maybe try getting in their IRC channels or mailing lists.

Did you try Googling the error? ImportError: No module named usb.core Could be a problem with your version of pyUSB?

Also, tried in windows but for what ever reason the 3.5 net framework will Not install for me.

Is your Windows 'Genuine', and with all latest fixes and Service Packs?

HTH.

Its the windows that came installed on my laptop and I let it do all its updates as it wishes.
I did Google the problem and even posted on rockbox and ilounge with the same question.
I have a 5.5gen iPod sitting on the table next to my 6th gen but the hdd in that one is bad, don't have the extra money to put towards that when there are other much more important things to be done.
Maybe I'll sync everything back onto the iPod and use it as what it is until rockbox is finally released for it.
