Just found this. Hope its not a repost:

If you want to keep root access, it works be wise to wait until we know if EC05 can be rooted.

If you don't care about root access, you will very likely have to unroot so that the update process doesn't fail.

I am sure it will be rootable by the same rageagainstthecage exploit that has worked before. May need some modifications to the one click root.

Otherwise flashing to the eb13 with Odin would always work, right?

EC05, interesting. Well I've been having problems with the modem on my phone. Resetting it doesn't help, and I'm pretty sure it was caused during the update. 3G speeds aren't as fast as they used to be and during calls my phone will "cut out" my voice so while I can hear the other person, they can't hear me, like as if I've dropped that call. We'll see if this fixes anything.

I would not do the update to EC05 unless you want the POS Sprint ID crapware on your phone. My neighbor has it on her phone, and it is a POS for sure, she wishes she never got the phone, and does not want me to root it for her and put a custom rom on it. Heck, even the Sprint tech at my local repair center who I have known for the 10+ years I have been with Sprint told me not to get any phone that has Sprint ID on it. Over at SDX forums there is a thread about it that also says it logs keystrokes on your phone too

From what I have read, I thought sprint id was simply another interface on top of android. "Helpful" for customization. But I haven't read anything about it logging keystrokes. Now, carrier iq on the other hand does do that, but that is present on any but the newest custom roms (syndicate, midnight, etc).

the sprint id app is not the spy ware. it is carrieriq. th epic forums on xda have info on it. many new roms for fryo have carrieriq removed which logs keystrokes and all.

So... Sprint is going to try Froyo again, OTA on the 24th.

I've updated my phone via the exe on the Samsung site.

I'm mostly happy with it, so the question is:

Roll back and let Sprint try it again

or

Keep on going with the 2.2.1

Now granted, conventional wisdom would say that Sprint has fixed the complaints / bugs that came up with the original Froyo push, so it might be worth it to roll back and upgrade. Thoughts, ideas?

From what I understand the update will start today not the 24th
