Soooo just got my Thunderbolt and I love it, only problem is nobody is receiving my text messages. It's showing that the messages are being sent, nothing looks weird there.

At first I just thought people were ignoring me but I had like 3 friends I texted last night call me and ask why I never texted them last night when I definitely did.

I texted my buddy in my office four times and he didn't get anything. Texted my mom a few times in response to something she sent me, nothing. Texted myself and received it, but it was from like a 17 digit number.

This happened to me yesterday right after i got home with it. Then I did a battery pull and all was right with the world. And it is SWEET.

HOW TO FIX IT:

Going from 3g to 4g many people will experience that problem. The number is your IMSI number. You can see it under phone identity in your settings. To fix the issue just reboot your phone. I work there so this is what they'd do for you haha

This may be why people aren't 'getting' your messages for some folks. They actually are, but ignore it due to the strange number.

Alright so I posted earlier about not being able to text. NOW, after calling verizon her changing some stuff on their side, me rebooting a bajillion times, my phone won't hold a data signal.

The phone starts up, picks up 1X, switches to 3G, then drops the data signal after about 5 seconds. WTFFFFFF
Anybody have any ideas.... This is getting really frustrating. Should have listened to the people who said wait...

Firmware update where are you?

Just take it to a local Company owned store let them deal with it.

I would just hard reset it, it's new enough you shouldn't lose much. If it's still messed up call in call tech support and have them check it out. Tell the people that you've already talked to customer service and need to talk to tech support though.

Sometimes it can be non-phone dependent too. I was having troubles texting someone: I'd see all his texts, he'd only intermittently see some of my replies. The trouble started recently while I still had my droid incredible, and has also happened since then a couple times with my Thunderbolt as well.

It's either his carrier (AT&T) or Verizon rather than the phone, since I've seen the same behavior across two phones.

Oh god yes I"m having trouble, buy I came from a slide-out keyboard phone that didn't do auto-correct. I know I can disable that feature, but the touch screen keyboards are still something to get used to....

Oh yeah and my biggest complaint about typing on the keyboard is how you type in a word like "Aren't", when you get to A_R_E_N and then switch to numeric mode, it plugs in the '_T for you and if you AREN'T'T watching it gives you....DOH yeah....

Have been having a real lack of reliability with texting on the t-bolt so far. This includes not getting all messages sent to me (just never get here) and not being able to send all messages (just keeps some of them pending and even re-sending doesn't help). I was wondering if others are having such hit or miss problems that they didn't have with their pre-tbolt devices???? I'm not in a 4G area, so no network issues should be involved.

Look, I don't need to text like a teenager or anything, but come on...:)

Had this exact same problem! Really annoying, thought no one was answering my texts but some weren't receiving them and others were just receiving my number as a long line of numbers. Also, about a 6 hour delay in receiving some texts. Ridiculous! After pulling the battery it seems to be working fine! Hope this fixed it for good and it doesn't become an issue.

Update: Did some more troubleshooting with the texting issue. I discovered that what may be lagging and/or unreliable is just the notification of my text messages being received. I have sms features set to deliver a confirmation on both my text being sent successfully and being received. After looking into it further, I discovered that most if not all of my sent messages that were still showing as "pending" on the TB had actually been received by the parties I sent them to. So, I'm thinking that whether my message shows as instantly received or forever pending maybe has more to do with the notification techology, like what phone the recipient has, how they open the message, etc., and the ability of the TB to interpret all of that into a "received" status.

Oh well, just a theory...but still wondering if anyone else is having this type of issue. In the meantime...holy cow, the thunderbolt is really here, and I'm really enjoying it! :D
