I've heard people say it could help to a certain degree. I've also heard people say that, when Android 2.3 is released for the Thunderbolt, that could help a little, too.

Just out of curiosity, is there any estimate as to when 2.3 will be officially released for the Thunderbolt? Generally speaking, of course?

Prob come around summer I would think but who knows last I heard somewhere said June was expected for 2.3/2.4 whichever gets pushed to the tb. Also I'm sure they can fix the battery somewhat with an update its not all user error that poster doesnt know what they are talking about. smh

What's funny is the large number of ignorant people who care more about believing they are right than fixing a problem because it means admitting they are wrong.

You're trying to argue something that's been proven.

How exactly is it proven? Please do show some evidence because pretty sure the battery life was horrible in testing is that user error?

The funniest thing is folks thinking all of the hardware features, 4G and software that is running, will yield the entire day with heavy use on a 1400 mah battery.

Besides data with 4G, that super sweet and vivid LCD has a cost for power. As soon as I set eyes on it I figured its beauty had a price..... "They" always do :(

There's no point in discussing this with you because you are religiously convinced you are right, it shows by your condescending attitude. Ignorance is bliss.

It's proven because not everyone has a problem with the battery life. That right there should be enough. It won't be for you however because you don't believe you can make a mistake, you believe you know everything about Android when the fact is that you don't have a clue. It's been discussed and solved numerous times in numerous threads on this and many other forums. It's interesting that you haven't read any of them.

let the argueing begin.

HTC is notorious for poor batteries. I had a moto droid and had 0 clue about this issue, why would i even care? this poor battery WILL scare some off and thats the big picture. how many people are going to say to themselves "man i have awful battery life, let me check androidforums to see if others are having this issue". not thaat many. but they will go back to Verizon and get told to get a task killer.

No i know HTC is bad with battery life but how is that user error?? That is HTC error not user(me or you). I'm not ignorant you just don't know how to state what you mean. I read many threads seems like you need to get off your ego trip. Of course its user error when they stuck a 1400mah battery in a 4.3 inch phone. How foolish of me to think it didnt have to do with the phone and 4g using it but me. Well by golly thank you for informing me of this your highness now let me bow down since you are all knowing as you believe in your little dream world.

There is no debate, it has been over for a while. It's an issue of people refusing to accept reality because it hurts their pride.

Dude relax. Did u design this phone with HTC or something. You sound more religious about it than anyone else here. Relax. The battery life with 4g does suck but that is the case with all new phones that ate designed around a new chipset. There are a lot of user errors but in this case alot of it is not.

Ha agree he seems a little upset but i guess since he knows all and says updates won't fix it what about updates other phones got that increased battery? Oh that's right it must have been a mistake since as you state an update wouldn't help. Smh

Since the battery issues are user error, no I do not.

Pot, meet kettle.

BTW, you can't base your argument on the fact that "not everyone has problems with battery life" because you don't know how people are using their phones and what settings they are using.

For example, are people who get good battery life in a 4G area or only 3G? Are they connected to WiFi all day or not? How many phone calls do they make? Do they have data always on? Push email? What's their screen brightness setting?

I could get 12 hours out of this battery if I turned off WiFi, Bluetooth, 4G, data off, screen brightness at 10%, and didn't use my phone. But that kind of defeats the purpose of having this phone doesn't it?

If I have to turn off functionality in order to extend battery life to more than 4 hours of normal use, that is evidence that the included battery is not sufficient to support the features provided by the phone.

Just had to plug my phone in after 5 hours off charger. WiFi off, two short phone calls, and some Twitter/Engadget reading. That's it.

Yesterday, I got 8 hours of battery life, but I was connected to WiFi the entire time, no phone calls, and barely touched the phone.

So yeah, if you don't use your phone at all, battery life is fantastic.

turn off functionality? do you use gps/wifi/date every second the phone is on? no, you dont, so what is the harm in turning it on and off when needed? I suppose that would increase the battery life to much, and then people like you just wouldn't have anything to complain about

my phone had a 31 hour on time and 4 1/2 hour awake time yesterday when it died. which is more than reasonable given what all this phone comes with(3 hours of that was 3g internet use)

Battery life should always get better with updates. Might not increase 5 hours but it should help

Now the TB does have battery issues but its not all user error! That implies the user is doing something wrong and can be fixed. The problem with the TB is that isn't just not going to get great battery life that many people might desire. Its a feature packed phone and lte will suck battery down like crazy. If you need better battery then turn off lte and go 3g only. Use wifi as much as possible too. These will increase battery life a little bit.

Its kinda like a car with a big V8 in it. Lots of HP and fast but not so good on the gas mileage. You have trade offs with everything.

HTC fanboys need to take a chill pill its only a phone and some people need their features on for people that had their phone on for 42 hours that's just crazy if its been that long maybe you should consider needing a smartphone then because letting it sit all day is not a battery test but for people who need it and need to use its functins use it and need it to last nothing you say is going to change battery life for that person.... you might use this phone as pleasure where people use this phone for business so stop trying to get into arguments thinking your better because you get great battery life the only thing that proves is that your not an important person and shoukdnt have a smartphone

I had the incredible and it had pretty bad battery life, and it took forever to charge. Then an update came out and after that the battery was a lot better, and the battery charged from dead to full in under two hours. I think an update will come out to help with the battery issue. The question is when...
Love this phone tho.

There is no battery issue.. here is my story

7:15 took off charger
7:15-2:30 Sent text during the day. Download apps watched youtube checked email. All on 4G. At 2:45 right now I still got 60% battery. If you expect any better you dont deserve this phone. Just sayin
