Verizon buying out Sprint?

VZW said they had no need for sprint unless the will make a profit from it then they will make the bid they profited from alltell and with the added towers there would be almost nowhere in the states that VZW would not have service if they bought sprint.

Buying sprint would net VZW virgin mobile boost nextell and the soon to be released cox wireless service i know there are smaller mvno networks that i failed or forgot to add to the list.

But VZW buying sprint would be the worst thing to happen to the wireless market in the US however VZW can not buy sprint as they are part owned by a (foreign company) and there for unable to own a tier 1 communications company the only one that can own sprint is AT&T it however dos not stop sprint from owning VZW only we could wish to have there bandwidth and towers.

(Not 100% sure on VZW being part owned by vodaphone UK since wikipida is not always right.)

It is going to be interesting to say the least to see if the ATT/T-Mobile deal is even allowed to go through since that would give 2 carriers (Verizon and AT&T) control of around 80% of wireless subscribers and pretty much all of the Spectrums. Sprint would never be able to survive on it's own and would have to look at rounding up smaller regional players like Leap just to get by. It is a bad deal for consumers all around when we only have two choices and both those choices overcharge and do all the other shifty things AT&T and Verizon are known for.

Sprint's endgame is grim, unless Verizon comes calling - Mar. 23, 2011

The CEO of Verizon said, here, that he isn't planning on buying out Sprint like AT&T is doing to T-Mobile.

I say BS as Verizon will probably start preparing talks when the merger fully goes through.

What do you guys think? What do you guys think of the AT&T-T-Mobile buyout?

To me, it actually seems like the article forgot something...they kept going on and on about Sprint having to do something drastic but lots of T-Mobile subscribers are angry with AT&T and refuse to go along with the move and many want a cheap bill and Verizon's is the same as AT&T's so they may just end up heading to Sprint which could create more revenue for the company instead of having to buyout smaller companies.

Sprint has the cheapest if not the absolute cheapest of all 4 of the top carriers...it would make sense for those cheap T-Mobile subscribers to come over to Sprint if they don't want AT&T.

But then again, it could be people just threatening AT&T with claims of leaving and just stay with the merge or AT&T promises them something really good so they stay.

It's all speculation, but it's interesting to hear what the community thinks.

I sure hope they don't. I hate Verizon and AT&T and left Boost Mobile and T-Mobile to be with Sprint for many things that other carriers don't have, such as a great insurance policy. I never really cared about 4G...yeah, it's slightly faster, but it still is pretty useless to me. I love my Evo and I doubt Verizon would be nice enough to let me transfer it over if a merger occurred.

I do wish that Sprint would buy out Verizon...their debt would be long gone. Verizon customers and Sprint customers would be more happy as I don't think that Sprint would raise their prices too much...but with fewer companies, they may do just that.

Yeah, he's got a point...just because he says they are not interested doesn't mean it's true. And the part about the iPhone is so very true. We didn't know about the AT&T and T-Mobile talks too but they had been going on for months...who knows, they may be lying and the talks have been going for years.

I read an article earlier this morning that said that foreign carriers may be interested in buying Sprint. Rogers from Canada may be interested or another carrier nearby or maybe even a company that isn't currently involved in wireless phones like General Motors or something.

Who knows, but I don't want VZW to buy Sprint. Sprint will be better positioned once it gets all the iDen subscribers moved to CMDA and acquires the right regional players to supplement it's coverage.

I would expect Sprint to try to sell some of it's spectrum to stay afloat before being wholly acquired.

I don't think the AT&T-TMo marriage will be so special. AT&T really had very few options when it comes to upgrading it's network quickly. Behind in LTE and not such a great HSPA+ transition so it had to do something. VZW was pulling away as the top carrier. And it's only going to get worse for AT&T because iP5 or whatever it's called with LTE is going to come to VZW first or simultaneously. That's going to hurt AT&T. iP4 didn't because it's too close to a 4G iP release for people to switch and take the 2-yr contract hit for many.

I believe Sprint staying the path of being a value-provider is going to be a long-term win. The costs of data are just beginning to show so the "unlimited" nature of Sprint will begin to pay off. Sprint does need a few new phones to keep pace though. And yes, Sprint will eventually add LTE, but Wimax will live on in some capacity.

Go Sprint.

I will be a very unhappy person if Verizon where to buy out sprint. I have got-in so use to my unlimited everything for a set price.

My thoughts exactly. I went to Sprint from T-Mobile because AT&T and Verizon have terrible prices. And with Sprint, I have never had a dropped call nor been denied the ability to make a call. Just fine for me.
