How is the Intercept now that it has FroYo

I'm considering switching to Virgin Mobile because of the great value in the $25 plan. Their two Android offerings are the Samsung Intercept and the LG Optimus V (same as the Optimus S). I've heard complaints of lag and freezing, but I'm curious if FroYo will provide a remedy. I'm asking here because the Sprint version has had the update for awhile now. I really want a phone with a physical keyboard, but if the Intercept is that bad, I'll get the Optimus.

I just did a quick google search, and it lead to a couple of threads from this site. Most of us have a rocky experience with our Intercepts. I seem to have solved the lag issue by using the Zeam Launcher. LauncherPro worked well, but Zeam makes it a bit smoother. Do not think that either of these phones will have a smooth performance of the Evo or Epic in terms of heavy apps and games. Other than that, my only other issue is the Battery not lasting an entire day, even when its in the holster for most of it. My solution for this is to get a car charger.

Most days I still wish I would have gotten something like the Epic, but then I also keep in mind that I saved $200 by getting the Intercept for free.

I do not have any experience with the LG so I will let you do your own searching on that.

So the FroYo update didn't fix the lag?

Freaky, I am not a gamer, nor a heavy user. When I got my Intercept, 2.2 had just become available, so it got installed first. I get 2 days on a charge, and don't know what the lag is that you are referring to.

I want to caution you about VM plans, they change like a revolving door. Last summer I got a $20.00 a month limited plan similar to the present $25.00 one and they dropped it after 2 months. They offered unlimited for $40.00 and I didn't need that at all. I had to get rid of the VM BroadbandtoGo card, and now have a Netbook that I don't use much.

I just checked and now see unlimited is $60.00. SO BEWARE!

I had a Nextel phone with Sprint and was able to get a data plan and use the Intercept for $10.00 more. I can now do what I needed the Netbook for with the phone.

Think I would stay away from VM.
