Help error 18, need help

I got a replacement droid 2 and it won't install many apps, specifically any angry birds app.

it downloads fine, then as soon as it starts install it says unknown error -18


I posted a comment on the angry birds FB announcement and within a few seconds I got a private message from someone I don't know


'Alright found a fix. I hooked my phone up to my computer, browsed to .android_secure and deleted the file 'smdl2tmp1.asec'. Problem solved.'

Obviously I'm not going to just go delete a file without someone here telling me what's up, and I already searched the forum and there's nothing I can find about the error 18.

Please help I really don't want to have to get another replacement

Unmount your SD card, install the app, then remount the card, then reboot your device.

thanks, also while waiting I found another solution

plug phone in, delete android secure folder, which is a permanent solution, there was another forum where I found this and to unmount the sd card every time seemed not a permanent solution.

all 3 angry birds now installed....again...WINNING

How do I delete this secure folder if I can't plug my phone into my computer?

I tried with astro first it did not work, so unfortunately you'll have to either plug the phone itself in OR get a SD card adapter so that you can fit your micro sd into a full sized sd and put that in a computer with an sd slot.

OR if there's nothing on the SD card that you need you could try formatting the sd card FROM the phone. I think this would work but don't want/need to try on mine and I don't want to lose everything that's on there.

So i read this post, and i do this and it works, i then read the next post and i think to myself, oh, i can probably use astro, so i try it and it doesn't work, THEN i read the next post and i think to myself, "dang, i will never get those 10 minutes back", hahaha.
