Help No backlight on Xperia X10

i dont know about the x10 as i havnt stripped one down, people on here have though. But a laptop screen, LCD have a Seperate invertor which powers the backlight, basically its like a starter on a strip light. the new LED laptops have a Invertor Built in.
So id expect something simular with the phone.
IF the screen is working in another then it rules out a Built in Invertor being faulty, so i would say there is another cable somewhere OR the invertor in your phone is also faulty.
Good Luck

i today took it to a phone repair shop. they said it was a small chip that controlles the LED's (backlight) and they said it was not working proper.

he said he would need the same part of another x10 (got go back in a few days)

Nice one mate let us know how you get on.

ok alittle update on this

i went to the phone show today and they said it could take up to a month to sort it out

i think they was just waisting my time

so do you people have ideas what i can do?

the guy at the shop was saying something to do with the IC. is there anything i can do in the recovery/service mode? (the mode where you hold down the back button while turning on)

the phone works great but there is no backlight and i dont want to sell/throw it

To be honest if you got the phone wet that is a different story as the part of the phone that is likely to fail is the main board which makes up almost the entire cost of the handset. With this being the case there is not a lot I could advise to get this phone into a working condition unless you want to try the rice trick - Open the phone as much as you can and place it a bowl of dry uncooked rice for an extended period of time ( days ) to dry the components out as much as possible.
