Like most ppl on here, I previously owned a Blackberry and am accustom to having separate icons for each email account. So far I have three email accounts including my gmail account on my eris. When I first setup my msn, and school email I was able to separate the accounts into two separate icons. Now that I have figured out how to add my yahoo account I would like to have a separate icon for this also but can't figure out how I did this the first time. Please Help!

Unless you have Yahoo's premium e-mail service it will not work on the Eris (or any Google phone). It's one of the very few internet based services Google has not set up an agreement with (and it goes back to them trying to purchase them a couple of years ago).

You can do: Hotmail, AOL, GMail (of course), but not Yahoo unless it's the paid, and not free, service.

This, again, isn't just on the Eris, but and Android phone. I learned this when I tried to set it up on my Motorola Droid (before I switched to the Eris), and is what Verizon support told me.

actually...u can set up yahoo on ur phone...I found out how to do it from a VZ employee at my local store...I have had my account for yahoo set up for over a week. Apparently, originally everyone thought it could not be done, because when I first tried it...it didn't work...but there is a way to do it.

You have to setup the accounts manually.
Change your server to imap first!

First open the mail app and enter:

Username: full email address

Password: Yahoo! Email password

IMAP server: imap.mail.yahoo.com

Port: 143

Security: none

SMTP server: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com

Port: 587

Require sign in: Yes (checked)

Username: full email address

Password: Yahoo! Email password

I have not been disconnected from it yet...I have heard that some ppl have...I'll let u know if I end up having any issues!

do a search on this forum for "yahoo pop settings" and you will find all sorts of answers including the proper settings. it works for me.

The results show a loads of information that doesn't work. I'm interested in getting it straight from the person who's having success.

I got 2 free yahoo accounts up and running yesterday using the above settings and they are still running like a champ.

How did you get 2 yahoo accounts set up? I need to do this too, but I can only figure out how to get one. Please let me know like a dumb person, lol, cause that's basically what I am when it comes to this phone, I've only had it a day and its my first smartphone. Thanks.

No dumb people here, just those that haven't mashed enough random buttons...:D

First, make sure your WIFI is OFF, and frankly, I haven't turned my on on since getting these emails up. after that, I used the settings posted here and got each account to set up.
