[Sprint] possible EVO 2 special pricing for early adopters?

If Im correct I think if your an early adopter to whatever the new iphone is you get the new customer price on the new model. Like a lot of us here I got me and the wife an EVO on day 1. Our first day on Sprint. Im sure like a lot of you I got d!cked over on the premier customer program when they decided to split it between gold and silver, effectively killing my early upgrade I was looking for come June. I just wanted to gauge opininion in here if anyone thinks us OG EVO owners will get shown a little love as far as price goes goes when part 2 drops come june ( speculation)

I work for Sprint, and it's sad to say, but that more than likely will not happen.

I just read what I wrote and it sounded like I was coming off rude and I didn't mean to. But I believe they should do something for people like yourself and probably half the people on this forum. But from a business stand point I highly doubt they will. They may do some special pricing adjustment credits, but I highly doubt it even though I think they should

I wouldn't expect much welfare on what is sure to be a huge seller. The EVO 3D won't have any trouble selling at full price.

i am 99% sure .. there will be no love our way....

but if they go LTE.... and evo3D comes with LTE...
then there might be something to get wimax phones to be turned over. but i highly doubt, if they will go LTE.. it will NOT be out this summer.

only thing you got.... is to sell your evo on criagslist or ebay.. and get $150 -$250 for your old evo.

new evo might be $200-$250 with renew 2 yr contract... and $500 - $600 off contract.

There is zero reason to sign a two year contract. If you don't sign the contract, sprint actually gets hurt from a stock point of view. It just may encourage them to change that view.

If sprint goes with lte, it will cost billions more to build out. Which means help in upgrades.

One must spend a certain amount of money per month on their contract to be given the reduced prices on the new handset. The difference is, the iPhone plans didn't give many options up until 6 months ago. It used to be that if you just got the iPhone plan with any text package you hit this threshold. Being that Sprint is less expensive per month, it is much harder to actually get the "gold pricing" being that you are given one of two options; you can either pay for unlimited minutes or for internet tethering (or both I suppose). Those people who are buying iPhones and paying the 450 minutes with 200mb data (the cheapest iPhone plan currently) are not given "early adopter" pricing.

That is not entirely true. When I had AT&T, I was not even an iPhone user. AT&T used to send me bill inserts offering me an iPhone for ridiculously low prices (like $25-$50) if I would sign a new contract. And this was when I was like a year into my 2 year deal- which was just a family plan with unlimited family messaging and dumbphone data plans on 4 devices (which were really smartphones).

That was like 2 years ago, so it could be different now but I doubt it.

Of course, that wasn't the brand new iPhone on launch day that I was being offered. It was after the iPhone 3G (or 3GS, can't remember) had been out for like 6 months already.

Having said all that, I doubt Sprint will do anything for us that bought the OG Evo on launch day. Did they do anything for the people that bought the Palm Pre on launch day? I would be utterly shocked if Sprint decides to give us OG Evo launch day buyers the new customer price.

Actually, if you are/were on a family plan, only the primary line got the yearly upgrade. So there were plenty of Palm Pre owners who had ot pay full price for their Evo.

I actually still get the yearly upgrade. But since I'm on a family plan and everyone has an Evo, I only get a yearly discount on 1 of them and have to buy the other 3 off contract.

Again, it is all about what your monthly bill is, not what phone you use (which is exactly like Sprint's Gold/Silver membership).

They offered you a current year's model for $50? That's fantastic! I would have upgraded, sold it, canceled the contract, and still come out PLENTY on top. BTW is it a business account or soemthing? I had been with the iPhone(s) for four years and frequented iPhone forums and never heard of such a deal.

Also, FWIW, waiting 6 months for a phone, I wouldn't consider that an early adopter. JMO of course!

Well I would have had to change to an iPhone plan too, so I would have lost in the end.

It was not a business account. Just a family plan with the unlimited family messaging, unlimited data plans on all lines (dumbphone data plans but I was really using smartphones), insurance on all lines, and roadside assistance on 2 lines.

Yeah they pushed the iPhone big time. Even when I went to AT&T stores, they always tried to tell me how much better the iPhone was than my current phone (I was a WinMo fan back then). Even though I was using AT&T branded WinMo phones, they would still try to sell me on the iPhone, lol.

Well, pros: MS Office, totally unlocked as far as installing whatever app you want is concerned, unrivaled community support, totally customizable and lots of hacks, tons of apps.

Cons: They didn't have a lot of commercials so not a lot of people knew about it, wasn't all that finger friendly (though there were apps to fix that, like spb mobile shell), there was no "cool factor" like the iPhone and new android phones have.

WinMo was way better than iPhone back in those days. Seriously, when the iPhone 3G came out in the summer of 2008, I already had 3G for quite a while on my AT&T Tilt (released in October of 2007). And before that, when the first iPhone came out (with no MMS and no 3G) in June of 2007, I already had MMS and 3G for quite a while on my Sprint PPC 6700 (released in October 2005). The Verizon XV6600 (their version of the Sprint PPC 6600) had 3G (and MMS), and it was released in November of 2004.

I remember video chatting using MS Portrait on my Hitachi G1000 (with the camera that you could turn to face front or back) back in like 2004 over Sprint's 1X network. The iPhone barely got that functionality with the iPhone 4.

I agree that WinMo got passed by eventually. But back in the day it was the best.

^^^ ALot of the MMS war was Stever trying to state that we don't need MMS when we have email. Frankly, nothing browses web pages better than a nice big touch screen phone though IMO, and I think that is where most of the appeal was in the beginning.

FWIW my experience consists of the Motorola Q on Verizon's network. It was so bad that they recommended another phone. Can't remember which, but it was a Samsung with WinMo. That too was bad enough that I never looked back LOL!

Yeah there were a few different versions of WinMo. The Q was running the lesser version, can't remember what it was called. but WinMo Pro was the good one. it was the one with the touch screen, all the apps, and everything else I was talking about.
