Are you using a launcher or sticking with HTC Sense?

Launcher Pro and Widget Locker.

Custom home screen with toggles for my Bluetooth and wifi and a slider to change from vibrate to ring.

Launcher Pro's ability to add shortcuts along the scrolling dock is one of the best features for me. I have quick access to sending a text to my wife or calling my mother without needing to go into any apps or take up screen real estate with a favorites widget.

I tried sense for a few days, but all the crapware in the drawer drove me back to Go Launcher EX so I can at least hide it until I can root and delete it.

You can hide apps in the app drawer with launcher pro. From the home screen, hit menu, preferences, then under General you can hide apps.

I don't believe sense Widgets run in the background when you are using a different launcher because AFAIK, they are all disabled due to launcher pro running. Maybe someone could verify this for us?

I don't like sense - not customizable enough. Going with GO Launcher EX right now, was on LauncherPro on the INC when I ran CM7. GO seems to be very good.

I also have root, and have deleted all of the bloat, as well as the sense.apk and many of the HTC .apks too, much faster and better battery life so far. Who needs all that crap running? Just a warning, which I learned back in the early INC days, don't get rid of Friendstream or you will have sync issues...

There are many scrollable widgets on the market that are better than the stock sense ones...like Plume for twitter for example...

Can someone fill me in on how to do the skins? I owned an Incredible but never really played with Sense much on it, it was more a backup phone that didn't get much use over my OG Droid, and I'm on Droid X now. Tbolt is my work phone :)

Hit the personalization button, then go to skins. Or settings, personalization, skins. There are some that are pre-installed, and then these:
