Root Which ROM with EC05 is best?

If you read the second post under the Syndicate ROM posting on XDA, or maybe the third, it goes into detail about what Carrier IQ is. I don't see how removing it would be a bad thing...

Right. Carrier IQ is a Sprint only thing, and it basically allows them to track every single thing you do on your phone. Everything. Now, it's not enabled by default, which I think is a very important point, but the question that needs to be answered is: why is it even there in the first place?

The devs over at XDA really did a bang up job by finding out what exactly it was, and creating ROMs which have it removed. Serious kudos to them for a job well done there.

Even more reason (so I think) to really embrace the CyanogenMod which is being worked on for the Epic. 100% Android...no Sprint, no Samsung stuff on there, only base Android. Now, it's not like Google is a completely innocent company either, but hey...I already trust them with the majority of my stuff, so if they're going to get me, I'm already toast.

Bonsai 4.0

Nope, I used odin to flash the modem then flashed the ROM. It's a ext4 based ROM BTW.

Ok...newb question...what do you mean by flashed the modem?

Ugh now I feel really dumb where is the "Locked WIP thread"? If I knew what WIP stood for I might be able to find it lol

Heh...it's a locked thread (meaning, you cannot post to it) and the thread title is literally "Wip" meaning work-in-progress.

One of the mods, Kelmar, is putting all the knowledge and step-by-step instructions all in one place.

Newb...flashing the modem is just like it sounds. Instead of getting a new ROM or something, you're just updating the modem the phone is using. People are reporting better speeds and such after updating to the EC05 modem from the EB13 one. I haven't done it yet, as I'm just waiting for ACS SRF 1.1 to drop and that will have everything we need...

Download Odin: Odin3+v1.61andepic.pit.zip

Download the EC05 Modem: Samsung Epic 4G modem.bin firmware - version EC05 | Bonsai for Android

Pull the battery on your phone. Connect your phone to your computer via USB. Push and HOLD the "1" key on the keyboard and the power button until a yellow yield sign appears. Open Odin on your computer. Click PDA on the right hand side and select "EC05 Modem." On the left side, DEselect "F. Reset Time." Click start.

When it's done. Flash the EC05 based ROM you want (following normal ROM flashing directions and making sure you are RFS or EXT4 based per ROM instructions).

I cannot get any Bonsai links to download. I registered yesterday but it keeps telling me access denied after I run through the shopping cart process. And advice would be appreciated.
